I'm a long-time nitro on-road racer, just staring indoor carpet TC. I saw the Tamiya USA site has the older TRF417 on sale for $399 free shipping. Mine should be arriving this week. I'm planning on racing 17.5/blinky at our club. Any recommendations for inexpensive motor/speed controller?

I run a hobbywing xtreme stock Esc and speedpassion mmm motor for 17.5 blinky and its awesome

Is it likely Tamiya is coming out with a new version since the v5 are out of stock everywhere?

Is there a difference between the 417wx and 417 v5??

Has anyone tried the v5 chassis and the smokem 417mx chassis. I dunno which to get, i already have the servo mount so i would need to worry about that

Run both the front and rear camber links in the inside most hole on the bulkhead making the links as long as possible. This makes a huge difference.
Rear DCJs. Expensive but it works.

so if someone had an original (i think) 417, which chassis, v5 or raceberry, is going to be the best bet for carpet, and which for asphalt?
