The smokem is good, very very similar to the new chassis. I think with the new top deck it will feel almost the same as the new car.

only the new clamp are 0.5 mm higher or also the whole bulkhead is 0.5mm higher ?
How much they have rise the motor mount?
Sorry for the questions but I'm worry about because I have just buy the 417X.
Thank you.
I haven't tried the old shocks on the new car, or the new shocks on the old car, yet. The clamps are the same but the bulkhead is 0.5mm higher so I assume the diffs are too. I haven't checked if the motor itself is higher, I'll check tonight.

I tried the old car with all the bulkheads lifted 0.5mm last night and I really liked it on our med grip asphalt track. It had more grip but corner speed was still good.

Default Shock Oil

How do you know what oil comes in the new V5 kit? The manual lists the part number, which is a discontinued item (3 pack of 200, 300, 400 oil). Or just the fact that it is yellow tells you it is 400 (noted on your set up shet, Craig)

Cheers

Yeah, found that on Tamiya's website. So do Tamiya not make any other yellow oils?

Nearly finished the build. My first TRF. Pretty impressed by the way it's all going together. Rear arms were binding a little. Swapped out a 1mm shim to a 0.5 and she's all good again. Can't wait to get this thing on the road (well, rug in my case)

Any time. I recommend you pick up some 0.75mm shims for the suspension arms, I think with 0.5mm instead of the 1mm there will be too much slop

Will you be running your car at the new Kambah track? The track looks really great, I can't wait to come down and have a run

Yeah, probably a little too much play. I'll dig around in my kitbox, otherwise pick some up from the LHS. Only one more meet at Kambah before the new year. The guys have been pounding through the work -curbs, etc. It's coming along nicely. Will definately get out there in the new year. See you at the Titles in March, if not before.

Anyone here tried jiles mod on his 417X at worlds? He raise up the top deck and put a plate on the motor mount Left and right side so that the tope deck is not srewed in the motor mount to give more flex on the car.

I did the modification on my 417x but I haven't actually tried running the car yet.

How's the car handles? I assume to generate more mechanical grip?

Default Battery stops

I don't think I'm loving the battery stops on the V5. I'm guessing tape will hold the battery in, but there's nothing (apart from tape) stopping the battery sliding in towards the belt at the rear. There appears to be no carbon/aluminium mounts available like on the earlier 417's.

Any tips/solutions? Or just tape?
