It may in fact be unique to us, but it is sure happening a lot more often then I would expect. I can say this...since I stopped running 1/12th scale I have stopped breaking them .
I am glad no one else is having issues, but I cannot say the same for all of the TOPs at our track. Hard to promote a car that breaks...plain and simple.

It must be the Colorado dryness, because this is not unique to just our track...The side links are crap and they need to be fixed. I am sure we are just a bunch of bashers compared to you pro drivers. Unfortunately, you cannot replace them with another brand like you can the steering blocks and axles.

if i where breaking links i'd HIGHLY recommend putting together side links with lunsford turnbuckles + basically whatever rod end + ball you like (just make sure all four are the same). this is _the_ way link cars started (remember the Speedmerchant/CRC Carpet Knife?). you could use dubro parts like speed merchant (std screws), losi type-r rod ends and balls (or CRC light weight balls) (std screws) or just use TOP Photon balls and rod ends (metric screws).
building side links is pretty easy -- and the large center football makes the adjustment easy even if they aren't 100% the same length. we made a replacement link for Larry this way once when he got the Rebel 12 before there where instructions or spare parts.
