My experience is other than gluing the sidewalls properly. I haven’t changed anything other than maybe how much of the front tire i sauce and how long I leave it. Otherwise a well setup grey carpet car should transfer well to black carpet. I can push my car as hard as I want and no rollovers.

My last TCS race I ran slicks up front with side wall glued and s grip rear.. both with hard inserts.

Shocks rear blue spring /60; front 55 / red 6.50 length.

Shorty LiPo all they way front. I put about 10g as a ballast weight in the square pocket under steering bridge.

Ride height as low as you can get it.. 4 mm in rear.

Droop is key.. you want almost 0 in front and full droop in rear

Diff, I run mine tight and as core creation said.. I can go full throttle from backstraight into 90° turn through horseshoes .. car is planted
TENCHO and kajex7 like this.

black carpet is way grippier than grey carpet was....

raman, that seems like what i should try. i'm trying to set up my car as close to feeling like a 1/12 scale pan car, except the M06 isn't really a pan car

It's not a pan car but it drives very much like one.. and that's they way to drive it..

That's why when I picked up and F1, it was a simple transition for me..

Setup does not change though for this car. At least nothing drastic. The normal changes you’d make when grip comes up. I’ve run the M05,06 and 07 on the grey and black carpet. It’s 90% tires as it always seems to be with mini.

If your using S grips in the front on the 06 you’ll have issues regardless of track. 95% of the 06s I see they are running Type A slicks up front S-grip rears. The newer S grips (last year or more) have a softer sidewall and will make it even worse if used up front on black carpet.

Youre limited in fdr, unless you run the ride cheater gears.

I run the TCS Spec Reedy 21.5.. it's no bullet and my old Novak ballistic 21.5 was faster.

hey you're totally right! it's definately more dependent on tires.

so from what you wrote above, i would imagine that the type A are kind of a medium grip compared to S grips? have you tried moulded inserts on any of these tires? also the S grips you are mentioning, are they radials or slicks?

thanks!

Type A is a soft tire and is a slick. S grips are a treaded tire. It is also soft but creates more grip on carpet especially lateral grip.

I race TCS spec so we have to use premounts. They use a firm foam insert. We used to double stuff slick tires to firm them up. We can’t do that anymore.

You can fine tune also as tires wear. Their characteristic will change slightly and can really dial a car in if you balance the grip front to back.

I dunno if my tires are new old stock, but they are S grip super slicks,
or maybe they're just called super slicks... i will try the slicks in the front and S grip radials in the rear.

Super slicks were a smaller diameter soft not really used much anymore. The limited gearing available means racers wants as much rollout as possible. Smaller diameter tires will limit top speed.

You want the 60D s grip radial and the 60D Type A slick. (60mm)
