How does this car work on Asphalt?

works pretty fine.
last weekend i won my local TCS against all M-05s :) fastest lap was nearly 1 second faster then the second. :)

my setup for aspahlt tracks (posted earlier in this thread)
2 degree rear
600 tamiya damper oil front
500 rear
red spring front & rear
tamiya red m-06r dampers
carbon damper stay rear
hard stabilizer in the front (none in the rear)
tamiya type a tires all around.
SWB and Silvia S15 body
M-05 ball diff or gear diff (depends on the grip of the track)

I thought the Silvia S15 would be a comical body, but seems pretty good looking after all...

You seem to want to push the M06 to the limit with this engine?
Guess it´s just for fun racing?
I wonder what will happen when you push the throttle!

what's the general consensus on diff builds? go with dry gears and the stock M06 gear diff? It's for high traction indoor carpet.

I just use the Tamiya stock gear diff with the kits stock grease, also greased the gears like advised in the manual.
I drive on a high traction indoor carpet also.

batteries for stock class racing
 

Hi guys,

what batteries would you prefer for stock class racing.
So all of us have the same slow motor etc...
it is important to have a lot of punch , served by the batteries :)

i know Noel had some comparisons a time ago...
what batteries would you prefer nowadays, to be the fastest with your M-06

At the moment i tested some
Vampire, MuchMore , GM Lipos...
But not sure which one is state of the art....
For me, even 2500maH would be more than enough, because only about 1000 are used during a Main...
But also 7000 Batteries will be ok, the Punch is the important thing :)

I tried:

5100/40c (338gm) - 7.78v avg discharge voltage
3300/35c (210gm) - 7.61 avg discharge voltage

Similar lap times on tamiya slow motor racing (28T). I guess the 0.2v was not enough to compensate for the extra 128gm.

But there are strong batteries that are very light that should make the difference. e.g.

Fantom 5300/65c (270gm) - 7.85v

one additional question about your measurement.

did you just drive e.g. 6 minutues and then measure the voltage of your battery ?

From fully charge, I discharge using lightbulbs (around 14 amps), take voltage measurements every 15 seconds for around 5 minutes. Then take the avg voltage.

Finally got to test the M06 short wheelbase. I love it, much better than my medium wheelbase Miata. Fun to powerslide the corners, with back end drifting a little, rotating the car very quickly.

Bodies with wings or flaps
 

I used to run my m06 with a tamiya renault alpine body, I found that it was very fast, not much steering and definitely very little rear grip or stability.

I tried some other shells, such as team titan's Volvo c30, abc hobbies lancia stratos and some others.

I noticed that the shells with wings work best for m06, shells with gurney flaps also worked pretty decently. Shells with no aero downforce made the car very unstable for road racing. They were great for rally though.
