Why do you think they are not competitive?? They are tuneable, alot of people race them, they have regional/national class racing, TCS ruling that most clubs worldwide who race mini abides by.

What do you base a competitive car on? How much they cost? How fast they go?

HPI is taking their sweet time releasing that body. If you look, its not available as a kit yet. Eventually it will make its way over. I suggest you email HPI USA and bug them and see what they say.

That's the result of havin' now the same unnecessary incompetent distributor for Tamiya that has taken over Austria before which resulted in no supply.
Order your stuff from japan and leave the krauts in the dust!!!!!

Well because of the poor parts supply and bogus promises this driver is no longer driving a Tamiya.
I use to order my parts from Hong Kong and or Japan but i am tired of waiting on parts that should have been on stock in the Dutch shops.
I loved to drive my M03 but paying 15 euro's for a set of tires( just 2 tires) that cost 7 or 8 dollar in the asian countries p***** me off so much that i was done with Tamiya at all.
Shame tho because they make good cars and if there was a better distributer here i would get one again right away.
We used to have 2 full heats of M03 drivers at our club but now we have only 2 drivers.
I have driven the FF03 also and it is a easy and good car to race but due to the points mentioned above i won't buy one or a M06.

No, if it doesn't have TRF in the name, then it won't be considered a comp. car. :p

You CAN race lower-spec Tamiyas, but don't kid yourself into thinking they'll be able to run with higher-spec cars (Xevo vs M03/5 for example).

Anyway, back to regular programming.... :ha:

Motor in the middle, cells down the chassis? Sounds like a scaled up Tamiya Tam-Tech Gear chassis?

I like this set up better. The battery cables on my m04m interefere with the bodies and push them out slightly. I also don't like mounting the servo upside down. It's a pain sometimes to get the thing out without disassembling everything.

+1 a more sensible set up for a RWD car... versus M04s rectangular skeleton chassis. I think its fine on the M05 since its FWD, but on a RWD car, you need more tune ability
