What wheelbase is this? Please let it be lwb?

Bloke 01-26-2019 12:00 AM

Pretty keen on that.

Hopefully it's a 239mm shell.

Magic snake oils to make you 1 lap faster :D

Thanks to Joel’s inspiration, I took my M06 with me to the track Saturday.

Our track is quite large so with the speed of the M06 you have a lot of time to think lol.. which is nice. My baseline set up was still the same..

rear blue /60 wt ; camber -1°
front 55 / red wt; camber 0°
Toe out 0.5°

I tested the car with two tyre combos, because in the upcoming TCS series it’s either one of these tyres and our track has not yet settled on which one.

1. Ride inch up 36°
2. Tamiya Type A front and S grip rear

Ride was much easier to drive on the black CRC carpet and I did not struggle with traction roll.. where as the Tamiya combo immediately led to traction roll.. so I had to reduce my EPA.

After my first two runs I spoke with the owner and he seemed to be leaning towards the Tamiya tyres so I spent the rest of the day practicing with those.

I practiced entry on which turns led to traction rolling and evtually settled into a rhythm of consistent lap times 20.5 to 19.7. Given the size of track, breaking the 19 barrier on stock M06 gearing will be hard!

My fasted lap was set with the ride tyres and they are easier to drive on since they are low profiles.. The rims look gawd aweful on my Alfa but the Suzuki swift we’re no better.

I often wondered why Tamiya didn’t stick with the Panasport rims that came on the Mini. All in a fun productive day.

The work I did to suspension per Joel’s tips made the car super consistent

Let's keep working at it Raman!
So nice to have a big 20 sec track. Post a video of your runs.
Traction rolling with M06 is hard to do, you must have super high grip carpet.
Or is it your Alfa high cg body? hehehe
One reason I chose short wheelbase is the ultralow cg of the Silvia S15.
Then softer springs with hard sway bars to help counter traction roll. Rear max track width. Height 3.8mm f/r.
I'm sure you can break the 19s barrier as there are infinite things we can still do to improve.
Myself after a week of testing, 1.4% improvement from my baseline. Around 4 sec for a 5 minute race.
Still nowhere near finished, which keeps me interested.

:)

Yes I do have my Alfa body and it sits as low as possibile. There is no chance it will change to any other body LOL... definitely not a Nissan ;)

Black CRC Carpet is super high traction. Once you drive on it, you don’t want to drive on anything else.
You can actually traction roll an F1 on this carpet. It’s also due to the Tamiya tyres as the rides and pit shimizu do not traction.

There was 1 other issue.. front ride height. My shocks have the adjustable shock collars with the o ring which are taller than the M chassis black collar. 2 mm vs 1 mm. They were set up for the Shimizu 55D tyres.

With the 60D they will not go below 5mm. I changed them when I got home and now I’m at 4 mm in front and 4 mm in rear.

I love your video's buddy, informative and some good humour lol. Seen your Amx vs xray vs Sakura video as well and valid points for sure brother

Just sharing what I've tested. Maybe once I've reached the 100 setup configuration will I stop trying :)

LOl I know.. but honestly for our TCS race I’ll probably run my M06 .. probably will be released in March and I doubt I could have it dialed in like my M06 in time by late April
