DOing some thinking about the points system discussion...

a fair point Rob....you want to give people the incentive to do well but at the same time not discourage them because they arent in the top 10 (or A feature) every race.
To address RIck's point about too many classes...that's why this would be good to try in onroad first...I was thinking about offroad and my head hurt...I counted just off the top of my head I think 10 different offroad classes just in electric. really with onroad you could condense everyone to TC, 12th pan and 10th pan (or WGT depending on where you are). so try it with just TC...and then if the experiment works then you could expand it to 12th and WGT and then if things go according to plan, we may have ourselves something cooking in the kitchen

Aligning with the current ROAR proposal with regard to TC feels a little less clunky than worrying about battery c ratings and whether a person has 50% sponsorship or 51%. Outside of itemizing everything a racer procures through a season I have no idea how that would even be monitored. With regard to batteries, using a different c rating for each level only forces people to replace working gear which may not be an issue for sponsored racers or guys with deep pockets. In general, consumers are far much more price sensitive since 2008 and I don't think having to drop $70-$120 for a approved battery pack that will most likely show no appreciable difference in performance will fly. A points system is a great idea but the simpler the better.
