The problem is also not enough steering. I layed the front shocks down to get more steering and it didn't help. I did the same in the rear to see if it would produce more grip and no luck. I am going to play with the front camber links and track width for more steering, but I think having more steering before getting the rear locked in will result in even less rear traction. Oh well, as they say. Practice,Practice,Practice.

Yes, at least where I race. 26mm HPI X-Pattern belted or non belted radial tires.

Are hpi x patterns the preferred tire for medium to high grip carpet? Which compound? Seems like d compound is the most common.

Wish I could answer that question for you. Solaris mediums are the most common at the track I race at. But, several have used X-Patterns including me and they seem to work very well.

I love the way X-Patterns "screech" around corners. Drives other's crazy. I think its cool.

What car are you running? IMO laying shocks in will have less effect than playing with camber links. I'd start there instead

I think it would be great if USGT/RCGT or whatever held to HPI Xpatterns on cool rims. The reality is most places are running some type of spoked premount.

The Solaris Mediums are carpet worked really well and probably a bit faster than the XPattern in any compound.

There will be some good USGT racing this weekend at the final round of the Hurricane All Star Series at "The Track".

Thanks for the replies. It looks like the solara is a slick tire. Are most places running slicks instead of the treaded tires?

I think what you have to take into account is the cost factor. You can buy the Solairs tires cheaper then you can build a set of X-patterns most times. So as a cost factor up here in the IL area and in the Midwest All-Start Carpet Series we went with the Solaris tires for this simple reason. They are cheap and you can get a lot of runs on them. Plus it doesnt open the door to any tire funny business.
