This does drive a long race day, but I understand that most people wouldn't travel to a track to just run one class for a total of 15 minutes' worth of track time.

Geez, you guys are running a lot of classes. Only thing missing is the Kitchen Sink class.

The Lap Factory gets huge turnouts for their club races, not unusual to see 150-190 entries, the array of classes will do that! Makes for a long race day, but hey, what were you going to do otherwise!? 😉 🏁

150+ "entries" is only ~75 drivers when the ratio is >2. Counting by entries artificially inflates the turnout numbers. 75 drivers is still a decent turnout, but if you limit to one class each but double the amount of runtime each class gets, you'll get a more fair distribution of runtime. There's people running 4+ classes there, the people on a more limited budget don't have that option.

With all of the nitpicking and complaining here I'm surprised some of you can even get out of bed in the morning LOL. I'm glad the local racers (and the ones who visit us from afar) aren't like that. They are very cool people who actually enjoy hanging out at the track all day as friends and obviously the tracks are doing something right to get such enthusiastic local support!

Agreed, especially on the added driving time, walking the pits at the Lap Factory you see nearly every table with 2 or 3 cars. They have decided to run specialty races that focus on specific classes while still running the standard classes, limiting entries and having people signup online to streamline race day logistics. My first time there it was a 13 hour day, with 190+ entries…..for an old man that’s a LONNNGG day!

2 classes per driver has been the average since i started racing 3 years ago.

Learned quickly to check driver numbers, not entries.

75 drivers and the majority of the tracks in the 8 states would be huge. And for on road it would be the highest I’ve seen.

I’ve got a few that during summer parking lot races will run 4-5 class

Sabin 07-20-2023 02:46 PM

Come to RRR then. Our trophy race is on August 5-6th and we're running five classes with usually 60 drivers with most everyone running at least two classes.

Exotek GTF, I think it’s based on Maserati MC12

Aha, hence the “F” 😉.

MikeR can you make a Porsche 918 Spyder, next? Please 😎

I'd like to see some Le Mans inspired bodies from MikeR, seeing as XRAY now is running suspension that's short enough.

I seriously think we should be applauding the great turnout with people showing interest with RC in general. I don’t race at the Lap Factory but spoke to a couple of people that do and they all seem genuinely stoked about the events. Add the San Marcos on road events and San Diego seems to have a strong scene which we should all celebrate.

+1… a year ago this month we lost 702 and I’m envious of the turn out many of you have had at your tracks. At present a permanent track for us is just a dream.

We’re trying to get a parking lot program going like rcpassion - San Diego. We were doing pretty well until 110 weather creeped up on us. We tested an evening race last Saturday, many regulars including me couldnt attend. We’ll keep at it 👍

I am taking a week off. There’s a club race every Sunday because of RC passion, TLF, and Cal Raceway all within an hour’s drive 👍 come out and race with us!!!
