maybe its my setup.. but Ive found using the reg D-compound which is what Ive been running is better on carpet...and the pros/belted are better on asphalt...

every race ive been in over the last few years Ive used the pre-mount or d-compunds...when Ive put the pros on, I end up with way to much traction and just flipping the car

and if Im not mistaken, they are the same as the VTA tires, as far as d-compound material

#4490 - X-PATTERN RADIAL TIRE 26mm PRO COMPOUND (2pcs)

#4495 - X-PATTERN RADIAL BELTED TIRE 26mm PRO COMP (2pcs)

#4790 - X-PATTERN RADIAL TIRE 26mm D COMPOUND (2pcs)

these are the tires I will be running at the USVTA Southern Nats in Sept...

Why aren't they allowing the D3.5 in 21.5? There is no issue with this motor.

That makes no sense. If it's a roar class, and the motor is roar approved (has always been roar approved)... then you should be able to run the motor. Everybody in this area runs the D3.5 21.5 in this class (and vta).

Yea I thought it was just the 17.5 D3.5 but was told all D3.5s were illegal at southern nats.
But the crappy part is my 3 places I buy 21.5 motors from ONLY sell the D3.5 based motor ...
The schuur speed isn't roar approved .
The revtech 21.5 r not found new (unless I piece one together)
The reedy don't have the open cooling design I'm looking for
The Novak .... Well I just don't know . I haven't been impressed with there motors in a long time
A orca or kill shot would be great but haven't seen either yet

good point and I respect that, but as posted we normally follow what Vegas is doing when it comes to ROAR classes....and they are not allowing the D3.5 motors...and since a lot of guys use my event to get ready for Vegas...it only makes sense..

Also let me be clear, this is a USVTA event, where USVTA RULES are KING, not because Rob last name or me being the KING OF VTA....simple humor..lol..don't take me serious..please don't..Im no Eddie

but if your area is using ROAR rules for VTA, that's fine and I hope it grows...but what Ive seen over the last few years is proof that the USVTA rules work and honestly, get more ppl at the event....

The ROAR asphalt and carpet nats have a good following, but neither compare to the Scale or Southern Nats...in numbers or ppl willing to travel....now of course the entry is higher, and that may play a small roll....But coming to an official USVTA event, you eliminate the guess work or worry...20+ states submitting entry into the Southern Nationals 2 years in a row cant be wrong...

so for you to say it dosent make sense, well to those of us running VTA from the beginning, says differently

also...a USVTA car won the ROAR races too....

With this being a usvta event . and if the usvta rules say that the D3.5 21.5 is legal cause it is roar legal shouldnt it be here ?

Just trying to clear this up . i got a feeling not many people entered into the southern nats cought the D3.5 (21.5) issue

Yes, that makes perfect sense... for a 17.5 class. The D3.5 only had issues (supposedly) with the 17.5 specifically, and only the 17.5. The 21.5, 13.5, 10.5, and everything on down, did not. Not allowing ANY of the 3.5 series motors to run kind of promotes the idea that they ALL have some sort of advantage.. which they do not, and makes it tougher for people to find the right motor to use.

But I digress... I don't really care about that race specifically as I am not attending, I was just making sure that the motor is typically allowed "in general", as there may be other races that I DO make, and that is the only motor I can run.
