Come on, guys. Is it really necessary to ask for help deciding if a body is legal for the class? The answer should be in the name of the class itself, USGT. Not USRally, USHillClimb, USOffRoad, or USRecordBreakingGroundSpeedSetter.
I think, and it's just my opinion, that if you wouldn't see that body in the any of the Grand-AM Rolex or Continental Tire Series, keep in mind that the Daytona Prototypes have already been ruled out if I recall correctly, then it's probably not in the scope of the class. Please don't stop sharing your pictures of your favorite cars and paint jobs...but the application of common sense goes a long way with the patience of many. I rarely make a post of opinion so don't take this as a bash in anyone's particular direction. I love this class...it's fun to race and it's fun to watch. But the thing I love the most is that someone finally made "good use" of all the body shells that HPI, Tamiya, ProtoForm and the others were making, that weren't ROAR approved, and bring them into the spotlight. Let's not dillute that with other specific racing class inspired cars. that's just my 2 cents. continue please. |

The nice thing here is that it's not open to interpretation. Rob is the sole and final arbiter. No competitors' arguments or opinions are necessary. I like that. Answered my own question. Thanks again guys! |
+1 on what Howard said.

Hey USGT'ers!
Just a heads up for any of you planning on racing Spec GT at IIC in October, the PROTOform Lexus LFA and Camaro ZL1 bodies have been added to the approved list. |

The link in my original post went to a web page on the HPI website showing how to paint up your own Team Falken car. It included a downloadable paint mask file (in several different formats). I gave that file to a local print shop and they were able to cut the paint masks for me.
I'm guessing that since HPI changed ownership that they pulled that info off their website. I would suggest emailing HPI to see if they can send you a copy of the paint mask. ------------ Edit: Looks like you can buy a pre-painted Porsche in Falken Tires paint scheme - http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/109760 |
Anybody know where one can buy the d-compound xpattern tires for this class? I can't find them ANYwhere... building a scalespec car for my wife, but so far, frustrated trying to find things in stock.
Also, is there an exact wheel size and/or offset we need to use to keep track width correct? There are so many DOZENS of different wheels... all I know are TC dishes. |

Belted or not... what is the difference performance wise

Anybody tried running these tires in USGT?
Vaterra 67x26mm http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...m-2-S-Compound Interested in knowing if there are any alternatives to the xpattern tires from HPI. |
Just FYI AMAIN had xpatterns in stock last night.

I have found that the Integy knock offs are almost identical to the D Compound and I wasn't impressed with them either |
Has anyone tried any tires other than hpi "X"? Picked up a few cheap sets from hobbypartz I'm going to try out
|
On asphalt the belted Pro-compound X-Pattern are garbage. They squeal a lot and do not grip. They're worse than the D-compound tires. The non-belted Pro-compound tires are the faster of the X-pattern tires.
