What kind of gearing are you running with the FF03 with the 21.5? How does the car drive(does it a push like a mini front wheel drive)?

Hi Dave,

I bought the car used and started with a 32 tooth pinion (48 pitch) and whatever the stock spur is, I think 68? Our track is about 100' x 50' and was down on speed a bit and went with a 34 tooth pinion and that was good, motor temps were 140-150 degrees. I bought the Tamiya 102t 64-Pitch gears and am building a Spec-R gear diff/tranny for it now, but will run it again this weekend with whatever is in there.

The car drives fantastic! I have never driven a FWD Mini, so can't compare but I used a shorty battery and moved it back as far as it would go and it hooked up great on our track. The rear slides a little bit, but it's very stable and controllable. I let the owner (of the track) drive it for 2 heat races and he ending up ordering a TOP Sabre FD2 to run in USGT!

I am not sure why the FWD cars are not more popular here in the US because this one sure if fun to drive, we are just getting USGT going at our track and hopefully it willl take off.

Looks great, Indy! Are you sure you'd need 0mm offset wheels? I raced 3mm offset on my TC6 and it worked out great with no rubbing. I was running the stock hexes, IIRC, and the body was also pretty darn low. I think you'll be fine with them, personally. But I do believe I opened up the fenders just a hair, primarily to allow for the steering throw.

I'll try it on my TC5 and see there too before I open the wheel wells. They should be the same fit, but the stance is different on them. We'll see.

You were right Tommy about having to open the fenders a bit. I just too maybe an 1/8" inch all the way around, but that's about it. It sits low. I'll give it a try tonight at Indy RC Raceway.

Just for the July4th holiday here in the U.S., here's an HPI Corvette that I airbrushed for a local racer about a year ago.

USGT Batmobiles!

Here are my son's new USGT bodies (SP Mazda Furai's), painted by one of our fellow racers, CJ!

Awesome job CJ, thanks again - the boys LOVE them!

BTW, it's all paint - there are Zero stickers on there.

What chassis did u fit the Mazda body over ? And clearance issues

Rich Valente 07-15-2013 10:39 AM

They are both Associated TC4's. The body hit's the front shock towers, but he left some of the wheel wells up top in place - they are 13 and 10 years old, so don't say anything! :P

It's not a perfect fit, but liveable.

I have seen that body for sometime ... Just didn't know if it would have clearance issues

Big Midget 07-15-2013 11:02 PM

Anyone ever try a HPI Mazada RX-8 body?
