Isn't that standard TC weight as well?
Roar changed it to 1320.

I personally don't understand the weight 'decrease' for such a class..
effectively alienating the 'older cars' and Tub-chassis that most the people I read are wanting to start running in the class.

On the other hand, spend $700+ on new kit, then spend $100+ on weights getting it up to weight. My car needs 150G+ to get up to weight, not easy to stuff just any ol weight in there. Need the special made weights for the chassis as its already cramped.

You can always add ballast.. The real issue is that you don't want to add it in the 'other' spaces available.
Under the battery, the front bumper, atop the servo and under the speedo has loads of real estate..
RC MAKER, XRAY, TAMIYA and others make some nice slim ballast bits for such other places

Are they really going to be competitive in a field of late model XRAY's, Awesomematics and Serpents?

with all these excuses, we may never know..
There are more people owning newer kits (2014-2021) That have to add a lot of weight versus a bunch of people running vintage kit's trying to remove weight..

Were they actually competitive before the weight drop that just happened?
Heck lets ban mid motor, lipos and brushless motors just incase someone shows up with an HPI Pro2 they had in the closet from 20 years ago. Things change, products evolve. At the end of the day you can pick up a cheap TC that's not a pig or a tub for real cheap. (x-press, sakura). No one is saying you can't run a heavy car in USGT, but everyone else shouldn't be penalized because you chose the wrong chassis. To me that sound like an excuse.

Part of the spirit of the class is about 'an even playing field'... or am I mistaken?
Regardless which chassis you choose, it must make weight.. Can be argued both ways. But the fact remains its very difficult to remove weight from a car that is inherently 'very heavy'. TC-01 for example drives like a dream with the rite setup.. But very porky.

TC7.2 is 3+ years old... and I do fine with it in USGT and 21.5 TC.... weight or no weight, and still win at times

The 'new guy' (whom supposedly this class is aimed at attracting also...or was at one time long ago) can't find one of those anywhere..
Don't get me wrong, I understand all the sides of the story.. But we as 'seasoned vets' need to consider the 'new guy' and what they would do...
More likely to get the $260ish TC-01.. or something similar

New guys should be starting in VTA
Regardless. It's a minimum weight not a maximum. Like i said before. If they want to run a heavy car no one is stopping them. There are plenty of cheap "modern" cars both new and used out there. USGT doesn't need to accommodate all poor chassis choices.
