Fell into this trap before. Motor analyzer has limited usefulness and finding the best timing is not possible using just the sky rc motor analyzer.

Have no plan to buy one. Just have know about this one for few years. Always was curious what it really did.

Amps, rpm/kv, average timing, and timing by phase with no load on the motor. I'm sure you've read the debates on the accuracy (or lack thereof) of the SkyRc.

I agree with rcja, motor analyzers do have limited usability. The only thing I use mine for is to find the true timing. What we really need to set motors is a motor dyno.

I haven't read any discussion about it. Until this summer i never planned to get involved with racing.

Hey Guys,
I have noticed since we have got rid of the grey carpet and got new black carpet, that quite a few guys have been shorting out ESC's. Just wondering if its all from the static electricity within the carpet since it's new or what. Now i have further noticed that lots are grounding their ESC's and getting LOW friction belts, is that actually going to help.

Thanks for listening

Are the TrackStar ROAR approved ESC and Motor Combo any good for usgt

I'm running a trackstar V2 in my usgt. The motor is fast. When I got the motor (NEW) the sensor board was shot but still worked and is fast. The motor just bogged for a second then takes off. Got my warranty replacement motor too. no cnarge and got to keep the old one.

I used the V1 version this summer. Solid but compared to newer systems it was weaker.

Ya I found that out too. :flaming:
I find it a hit and miss with motors these days. I usually get my stuff from RCMART. It's just the shopping time, that's too long but worth the wait in price.

What kind of traction compound are people using to run outdoor asphalt?

Easier said than done. How do you find the timing setting that gives max power?

just wire an amp meter in series to measure amp draw. Start with the timing at 30 deg. Amps should be low (2-3), keep adding motor timing until you hit 6 -6.5 amps with a full charged battery (or close to full, just not flat). That is your max timing setting, going beyond it will only increase heat and the amps will jump big time. Most motors end up around 40-55 deg timing. You are looking for the spot where the amps really jump up beyond 6 amps, go back a deg or 2 and leave it set there. Tune FDR for track layout, leave timing alone, it's now set for peak efficiency.

Yes static, use a ground wire from esc neg wire to chassis (motor mount or bulkhead). Good to go.

Is the Exotek P-Zero a legal USGT body?
