I know its not on the USVTA approved list any longer so it can't be run at official events, but its still allowed at our local track. McAllister Racing Riley Daytona Prototype. I've not run this body before.

It's got a bunch of rear downforce. I ended up running smaller and smaller wings until I finally just left it off completely!

The problem is not camber. It is the construction of the tire. First it is beltless and second it has a very inexpensive foam insert. Using traction compound softens the tire and penetrates through to the insert. Once the tire and insert get soft the lateral pressure from hard cornering pushes the tire inward and creates the "death groove". The foam starts to expand as the tire softens and because it's beltless and there is nothing to help keep the tire's original shape the tire's OD starts to balloon. Now you know why they are so inexpensive

Yesterday in a pinch I had to buy a set at the track.. they charged $29!

Lot's of options in that price range. When I used the word "inexpensive" I tried to avoid using the word "cheap"
Solaris spoked premounts for $30 used this season at the CTS Series this year in the touring classes last many more runs and are more consistent. Maybe the USGT guru's could reevaluate based more on a cost per run rather than initial cost.

I dunno, results may vary but I know I'm getting dozens of runs out of single sets of my usgt spec tires. In fact my tires I bought last year are faster than new sets from this year that aren't broken in yet. My only issue is that the break in period takes a good 6-10 runs before they are 'grippy' tires on asphalt so the first day of practice with these are kind of a waste when you go to bigger 3 day races with handout tires. Just my $.03...

I totally agree with you

I've never seen sorex's that cheap, that sounded like a killer deal.

I'd heard that. Most of the guys at my track (6-7 racers) who have used this body added the hard plastic HPI wing. I'm going to try the stock wing for starters and then go from there. Thanks for the feedback.

I built a set using the Schumacher Black insert and primarily used it as a practice tyre. They too ballooned.. so imo the insert is not always at fault.
Here are Sorex premounts for $32

I know they are on a dish wheel and not legal.. but $32 vs $29 I paid last night and they last a lot longer.
The reason I also use it Sorex as an example is that prior to moving to LV, I used to run Charlie's GT10 class and we mostly used Sorex on spoke rims and it worked out well for everyone
I'd be open to the Solaris TCS spec tyre as USGT tyre.
