Yes, those are the ones and as you said, you can get premounts or mount them yourself. I just bought another premount set from Activrc.com based out of LA.

that's cool. my concern was that I already have 2 sets of them and didn't want to have to buy new ones

What ever happened to the max MSRP on stock racing motors? Wouldn't this stop the arms race in USGT?

Way back when it was brushed stock, max $40 to be legal. Wouldn't a $80 or $100 cap stop all this motor of the week crap? A better solution than a "spec" motor?

I know that's why I quit USGT.

the problem is EVERY motor, even the hot shoe of the week, is around $100 - so having a cap on motors doesn't really help any issues

the other problem is, fast guys are going to be fast regardless what kind of motor rules. even back in the 'brushed' and MSRP caps, you still had guys getting crazy (but legal) motors and running them.. the real problem is the sand baggers that run in classes like this - the ones that can place top 10 of any mod class, but yet have to run classes like this (or USVTA) just so they can feel good about themselves

if you've been around long enough to remember brushed motors and price caps, then you should know that spec classes (ie, everything spec'ed out for the racers) always turns into a battle of the haves and the have-nots. remember when the 3000HV nimh batteries came out? they changed spec motor racing

well if they did do a $80 cap...what would stop the guys with that extra $$$$ from buying 4 or 5 of those and getting the really good one?

I personaly would rather spend $100-$150 or even $180 for a really, REALLY good one and be done, than buy 2 or 3 $80 motors and HOPE to get a good one...and then buy the equipment to check it to see if its a good one.

Its a bad situation, but Ive been in this class since day one...and beyond(RCGT), but I have to say...it isnt broken...70 plus cars at events at $100 an entry dont lie...and on top of that, I dont know of any running older motors, except some sponsored guys.

get you a Team Scream or Motiv or whatever ROAR legal motor, and enjoy.

They used handout motors from Hobbywing at one of the big races at Windy City. I wasn't there, but wish that I had been.

Speaking of motors, I am getting back into the class with a Fantom 21.5. Anyone have a good FDR to start with?

It's funny how all the fast guys get "lucky" and get the fastest motors and the slow guys get slow motors no matter how much they spend.

I run 47 degrees of timing with a Fdr of 3.7. Medium fast track. You can start around 4.0 and go from there depending on motor temps.

yeah, amazing, huh?

probably have nothing to do with spending time at the track, or heavens forbid, working on a car and/or setup

When the motors are expensive then less people will race.

We actually went through the motors and pulled out the top and bottom motors so they were all closer in speed as a group.
