Slight segway but thought some may have experience
I understand USGT has a weight limit. Has anyone reamed really big holes as to how some do in off road to reduce body weight..as typically GT bodies can be quite heavy. If so, has it affected handling, so reaming big holes around the windows? |
IMO, drilling holes in the body for other than the body posts is against the spirit of the USGT rules.

It's silliness like this that made me suggest a body shell minimum weight limit....and people thought *I* was the nutty one.

I actually did it on my tamiya HSV body . used my body reamer to drill holes in back glass and rear then covered them with stickers and decals wasn't really worth the hassle tho only removed Maby 10g or so .

In quite a few rules, cutting holes into bodies other than for the antenna and body posts is not legal. |

It wasn't like I was trying to make a 70g body. Was running a camaro body and the HSV was like 30-40g heavier ... Still the most durable body I've ever owned. Body still hasn't cracked or broke (except for the aero parts). But instead of drilling holes next time I'll just use a body scraper to get it to a normal weight
Personally I don't think it's silly. Plus I didn't mean to ruffle feathers I'm using a Tamiya body and didn't want to own a pf body like every Tom dick and Harry and was thinking the same lines as you. Only posted in here as it was quite active... I guess we all take racing differently. Some consider one thing mad while others consider something acceptable /normal |
I was expecting the body scraping nonsense to make its appearance.
Do not force me to institute the godzilla stomp body test rule. |

We'll need full specs on the Godzilla: total weight in kg, area of applied sole, allowable amount of body smoosh, etc.

Do what the OVAL guys do, and get a BODY SCRAPER and scrape the lexan until it's really thin and light...then lightly paint it to reduce weight. ;)
