I have to wonder what's going on at HPI. So many nice looking shells that you can't get anywhere anymore. They stopped making them?

The Tamiya shells are definitely a bit pricey, but they are just so incredibly detailed. They include proper light buckets and the sticker sheets they come with are insane. By far the most true to scale looking shells.

I tend to lean towards limiting GT to actual GT race cars, like Scotty's IIC body list, but maybe a bit larger list. Too bad there aren't more of those shells available, for a reasonable price.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention to what's been going on at HPI.
It really is amazing to hear USGT racers complain that Tamiya bods are just too expensive. The new Ride spec tires along with a set of wheels can be had for about 25 bucks shipped. Compare that to the cost of the HPI X patterns and a set of wheels (closer to 50 bucks). Now consider that savings and use some of it toward a Tamiya body and you haven't put out any more than usual.

The chassis Is a X Ray T3. I'd be very careful with this body because not all the tracks will allow it no matter what's been said lately, including the one I was at. Like I said "rules are rules." And I will respect the rules.

I suspect much of the cost for the Tamiya shells is due to licensing. I can't remember how much I paid for my GT-R shell, but I'm pretty sure it was over $50. If they had to pay for all those company logos included on the decal sheet, that would certainly explain it. Too bad more companies don't look at it as free advertising. Silly companies.

Check out Matrixline. They have a ton of bodys to pick from. Their LFA body is 190mm and looks better than the PF body. Sorry Dale

I've seen the Matrixline bodies on Ebay. What do you think of the quality of the Lexan and the decals?

The Lexan is similar to HPI. As for the decals...I'm a painter....what are decals???

That is the correct site. A friend ordered the bodies, but I'm not sure how he went about doing it. You mat need to e-mail them.

I know that I like the variety of bodies in USGT. I just felt that it might be time for a little more definition. I had assumed it to be a GT class and if the powers to be don't want to define it that close than I am fine with that. The line I found today in the USGT rules does put a little more question on the DP bodies though.
Things like this are just normal class growing pains. If we all work together and have a constructive debate then maybe a clear direction can be taken. Also maybe a body list like Scottie's won't be needed.

that was an excellent point, x patterns versus ride tires, can equate to hpi body versus tamiya body, in the end the price will be the same, but you would have a very detailed body, I have the hpi bmw, and the tamiya bmw, as locked said the tamiya comes with light buckets, and very nicely detailed, but the hpi bmw is probably the best hpi body out there as well as it comes with proper sponsor logos and looks the part, and it is sold out everywhere, lol. I will stick with tamiya bodies love the quality.

check out teambluegroove on ebay. they're making a LOT of older bodies - including some of the older HPI ones. no decals or masks, but they look good and kinda makes me wonder if they bought some of HPI's old molds

How's the weight on those matrix line bodies?

Similar to HPI

The Matrix bodies ARE pretty good. Just be careful regarding size. Most of them are 195mm. Depending on the body this may effect the overall look of the car unless you plan on offset wheels or offset hubs.
TBG is actually pretty good but again...be aware of what you're getting. In most cases they DO NOT supply window masks.
Minor crap but just don't want to see both companies get trashed because buyers were to eager.
There's some really good stuff out there. Anybody seen the Aston body from Racers Paradise ? Just plain hot !! Cheap ?....NO. The shipping gets you a bit but if you get a few people together to buy a handful of bodies the total decreases.
I have their VW Bug, The Aston and a Porsche 914 for my M-Chassis.
Kamtec in England also has some different stuff. They also sell on Ebay.
