The body came in a TA05-IFS kit so I "assumed" it would only work on IFS, short shocks type chassis. I thought the TB04 has the shorter socks and lower sock towers.

It does much like the T4 14 the body should fit just fine with the lower stock shocks and towers.

I guess everyone has their own interpretations to what bodies are or should be legal as the rules are left pretty open. What I like is that there is a good variety of bodies that people use. Being a motorsport fan myself, I interpret the rules specifically to GT racing. I try to use bodies that have or currently compete in sanctioned GT series: GT300/GT500, GT Lemans, DTM, FIA GT3, Blancpain, etc. At the same time encouraging race liveries and discouraging prototype (i.e Daytona Prototypes/LMP1) and non GT cars. Just my opinion.

Added rear shots.

Lexus definitely has a DTM car look to it. We'll see how it works!

I like it. More front end grip but also more stable than the GT-R. Rotates well.

hey Robk and Kevin you guys should look at these as a template for legal bodies...

this is a good list imo

Both Rob and I dont see the need for a body list for this class.

All the bodies in these pictures are made by Tamiya for the most part....so we could make it Tamiya bodies only? But then the price would be crazy and it would drive some people nuts Im sure.

Maybe a better rule is one that states that the body must be a "licensed" body? The problem with this is that it cuts out some body makers that dont pay for the naming rights on the body.

The rules are fine the way they are IMO people are always looking to pushing the limits with the body design but look at all the larger races none of them were won with a body that was questionable. Most everyone gets it I dont see it being that big of a problem. We have tested some of these gray area bodies and guess what they are not any better then "legal" bodies so really if someone wants to run a WGT body with shocks sticking out the hood well then that person is looking for some magical pixie dust to help him get to the front. It seems like some people want to create trouble where there is none....look at the guys looking for new motors in VTA...lol.

good point....

I agree ...

" However, Can AM or IMSA style bodies, similar to 1/12 or 1/8 bodies are also discouraged"

So no IMSA Nissan.......

Really, I can probably add a No WGT body exclusion to the rules.

I'm not sure what won our series race today. A Camaro was TQ, either a Tamiya Nissan GTR or Toyata MR2 won I think. Lotus, LExus, the infamous Shaken car, and maybe even a Silvia were in the main.

Like Kevin said, there is no magical body. Some work better than others on certain tracks, but there is a wide range of stuff that works. It's really all about running cool bodies.

Anything on a new Corvette?

People keep talking about what won at a given race and whether or not there is an aero advantage... that's not the only consideration.

Simple question..., is there a "look" based aspect to the rule or not? If not, just say no LTC-Rs and be done with it.

I'm sorry, I mean no offense, but words like "are discouraged" don't belong in a rule book. Rules should be black and white if at all possible. "Discouraged" is the grayest of the gray.

First USGT race for me ever this weekend. New to me T3'12, new tires and Protoform LFA body. The car handled great and I had a blast. I may never finish on the podium, but I had a nice clean race with some very good sportsmen. I think this is another class I can sink my teeth into.

"Discouraged" means "Oh let me go try that body out to see why it's discouraged to see if I can get an advantage with it!"

This is not a FDR question. :)

Just curious about motor timing. I have a new Thunder Power 21.5 with a FDR of 3.87 in my vehicle. The car seemed set up correctly for the infield, but I was definitely slow on the straight. I am figuring that the gear ratio is good but what about the timing on the motor? I moved from 20° to 30°. Temps at 30° were around 140°-150°

What suggestions would everyone have about a starting point for timing? Or should I just gear it higher?

Thanks

On TP motors you shouldn't run the timing past 35* and they need to be geared much hirer. How long of track do you run on? Some of the TP motors I have seen are missiles and some are just average it is a crap shoot with 21.5 TP motors if you have a good one you will love how fast they go. IMHO

I like to think if anybody has a body in question...post a pic and let everyone look at it..

For Thunder/Nashville Im more of make sure its a real car type guy...must have rear bumper ect...something that I would see rolling in my hood...or Tom Cruise hood at least lol

there are a lot of bodies that fit this class...pick one and enjoy....
