What do you mean by the T/a limit being 4.2?
i guess the nsx or the ebbro will work then..... |
Hey Kelvin this is Brian from the track. Last year the VTA 21.5 2S FDR limit was 4.2.
We did a little tuning on Eric's(iadevil) car with a 17.5 and a 5.3 FDR and is was running in the mid 6's. I think with a little more work he can get it into the low 6's or high 5's. See you at the track. |

The biggest problem is that every one of these spec tires winds up being unavailable for a month or 2 at a time.
The Hurricane series allows any premount for that reason. I have been looking around for something that might be a good spec. Even if it's not premounted, that would be fine. Lots of different wheels to choose from too. :) |
I think a lot of people might not go for the look.

Yeah, Minilights on an NSX or American Torque Thrusts on a 911 just won't cut it.
HPI has dozens more spoked 26mm wheels with multiple offsets than T/A wheels, with X-patterns and a bunch more tire options, too. It shouldn't be an issue if supplies are up to the test. Is it really that difficult to find a set of X-patterns? I didn't have much trouble finding my two sets. |

I am pretty sure the one he posted is a Tamiya, but HPI has a new one that is phenomenal.

Tires
I do not envy Robk he has a very hard decision to make on tires. Here is the problem as I see it, Southern Cal vs the rest of the country. In sunny southern cal  (just not right now) we can run 11 months out of the year on outdoor asphalt tracks, we have one indoor carpet track, one indoor asphalt track, and 4 outdoor asphalt track all in about a 100 mile or less radius. The rest of the country is not so lucky 8 months out of the year the rest of you run indoors on carpet tracks. Tires wear differently on asphalt an they do on carpet. One tire that works well for asphalt (solaris tires) might not work well on carpet. Finding a tire that fits our needs and pleases everyone is going to be tough.

So what is a good tire to run and will eric have them in stock?
|
Eric has some HPI tires in stock, I am not sure which. Give him a call, and look for stuff in the pro compound- super radials or v grooves for example.
