I must admit, I thought that the difference between open cell vs closed cell was simply whether the insert had a cut slit. Many of the HPI foams were just a flat piece of foam that I would have to patch together with some contact cement in order to "close" the foam up, hence why I thought that is what made their foams "open cell".
And like Snoop, I've never fussed over open cell foams vs. closed. I just ran whatever foams I had which were usually the open cell stuff that came with the tire.

well i had a chance 2 compare the RIDE TIRES VS THE DYNAMITE TIRES & the only differance we could see is the dynanite tire was a bit more round then the Ride tire..so it make it seem like the dynamite tire is a bit softer..& a guy had an old set of ride tires from 2years ago & it didnt have the cr-02 or the ride logo..IMO..THE dynanite & the Ride tire is the same..

I had my LHS order some Dynamite DYN7960 they say Ride on the side with a #GR-02 on it they fell very grippy after I removed the seem down the middle. These tires look just like the USGt legal Ride tire. $25 mounted,

And the USGT Spec tires can be purchased for 19.98 with rims you just need to glue them...or 13.99 with out rims and you can mount them up on any 24mm or 26mm rim you wish. Not sure why you would want to over pay for the tires via Dynamite.

The Dynamite tire being softer is exactly what we were told 2 years ago and what I stated that we noticed that when testing them. The lap times were not any faster just the wear on the tires happened at a much faster rate. We were informed by Thunderpower that Ride who sells the tires to Dynamite has changed the compound after it sold the tires to Dynamite. Im not sure if Dynamite is still able to get tires or if they are selling off old stock at this point. Many of the other Dynamite pre-mounted Ride tires are showing Discontinued. It might be a matter of time until they are all gone from their stock.

Well I mounted the Rides on a set of HPI 26mm wheels Thursday night which I run 3mm offset front and 6mm offset rear and ran them straight out of the package. Didn't clean the seam off of them and they were awesome right off the bat. I wound up putting three runs on them and they stayed the same through all three runs. These handed much better than the HPI pro and D compounds that I usually run. The only concern that I have is that the tire is squared off a bit so I curious as to how the tire will wear. I will be running them tomorrow at Access Hobbies so I will report as to how they do and look after running on them all day.
