I expect that it's the ATS-V that is running in the Pirelli World Challenge Series.

This is a TC body is it not?

No it wouldn't be a ROAR legal TC body so it would be USGT legal. I went on the PF mag forum and recommended PF releasing a updated version of this Cadillac. Do you know where to purchase one of these older PF touring car bodies.

JimmyMac 05-29-2015 07:18 PM

Just cut the wing down to USGT legal height.

Don't worry. This one measures in at 194mm. (True 190mm width).

OK, you have to admit, the new Ferrari F80 is wicked cool. I'm just not sure how to make this body out of Lexan!

xps800doo 06-04-2015 06:41 AM

non roar bodies

Body Specifications:
Any 190mm or 200mm body. Body can be any body that is NOT on the ROAR T2 body list. FWD encouraged to use FWD bodies However, However, Can AM or IMSA style bodies, similar to 1/12 or 1/8 bodies using an integrated wing are illegalEX: Porsche 962 style bodies or LeMans P1.
Daytona prototypes OK. Japanese GT OK German DTM OK
NO Trucks vans minivans school buses garbage trucks, ultility vehicles, moon landers, zambonis, golf carts, quads, etc allowed. If its not a car its not legal.
Any "SCALE" molded wings can be used. Lexan wings 10mm maximum height / side dam height
Scale type race liveries encouraged

so hpi has their "clear race bodies" they look like sedans, but are not on the t2 roa list.... does that make them legal??

Yes the HPI bodies are legal.

This new body from Tamiya is as well.

It'd be really cool if someone raced that in USGT with a FWD chassis.

This is a LeMans P1 style body....which is clearly not allowed in the rules.

JimmyMac 06-04-2015 08:14 AM

It's a pan car body anyways (with rubber tires F103GT style).

Daytona prototypes OK.

It's not all that clear, IMHO... Daytona prototypes are okay, so bodies with some form of "aggressive design" are acceptable. Clearly out are the 1/12 and 1/8 bodies with integrated wings:

http://racepf.com/images/products/1614-30.jpg
http://racepf.com/images/products/1530-25.jpg

These have the "scale looks be damned" wedge shape. From my reading of this, the fate of a slightly more scale-looking, but also integrated wing body, would also be disallowed (a Porsche 962, as it happens):

http://www.mrt-rcshop.de/WebRoot/Sto...mx78227_ml.jpg

But how about a Porsche 962 with a split wing? How is that much different from a Daytona Prototype?

http://www.mrt-rcshop.de/WebRoot/Sto...MX78224_gr.jpg

That said, good luck fitting that on a touring car! :)

Shameless plug: the rules for the BRCA GT10 class (the British version of WGT) mainly forbids integrated wings, so that last one could be legal, as would the Nismo. ;)

What???

The rule states...."Can AM or IMSA style bodies, similar to 1/12 or 1/8 bodies using an integrated wing are illegalEX: Porsche 962 style bodies or LeMans P1. "

Its clearly stated everything that you just showed here is illegal...and it even points out LeMans P1. I fail to see how there is any confusion with this the way its written right now.

That last one hasn't got an integrated wing. Now, does the rule mean "Le Mans P1 that have an integrated wing"? Or "Le Mans P1 or anything with an integrated wing"?

So this is okay:

http://ims.cdn.racersites.com/prod/p...46335/FULL.jpg

But this is not okay:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...orsche962C.jpg

They're... kind of similar, no?

JayL 06-04-2015 09:19 AM

rules say :
integrated wings are illegal, then it gives an EXAMPLE of a body with an integrated wing, Lemans P1

they don't just state flat out lemans P1 bodies are illegal

I read it that Lemans P1 bodies WITH integrated wings are illegal

Indeed. There's a fine line between LMP1 and P2, but here in the U.S., the Daytona Prototypes got mixed in with the P2 cars when the Grand Am series merged with the ALMS to form USCC, er, TUSCC.

BTW, I suppose the TUSCC could retain its name if Tissot became the primary series sponsor over Tudor. Or TAG Heuer. Or even Timex. :ha: But would they change to RUSCC if Rolex took it? :weird:

That was exactly my own reading of it, as well, but since others disagreed, I was also inclined to think that it could be clearer. ;)

By that reading, a Porsche 962 with a separate wing could be legal. Again, good luck fitting it to your touring car, though, which probably settles the issue.

Personally, I'd be in favour of USGT sticking to GT1/2/3, and staying out of LMP1/2, and even DP, leaving the prototypes for the pan cars. The pan cars both fit those bodies better (no pesky shock towers in the way), and also better represents the all-out racing attitude (as in, they properly leave the touring cars in their dust). ;)

But body styles are rather difficult to make rules for, the split wing is one way of avoiding the worst, but doesn't cover the DP (and many LMP) bodies...

I would like to renew my usgt/usvta driver series membership so I can retain the same number. I am currently overseas but don't want to miss out on next years series.

Thanks

wwddww34 06-04-2015 05:38 PM

I love this new PF USGT body.

nwagner 06-04-2015 07:21 PM

I never understood why Daytona styles were ever allowed, they just look goofy amongst sedans on the track. Id rather see a truck or van body rolling around the track than a Wildcat or GTP.

In the end I don't care all that much (still like the aero of the Celica), just making conversation.

ScottE1776 06-04-2015 10:01 PM

I hate it when they confuse spoiler with wing. The protoform bodies have spoilers. A wing stands above the body. Always has, always will.

Your Number is always your number it will never change. If you miss a year(s) and sign back up it will be with your original number.

The year long season runs from August 1st to July 31st. We are coming down to the final month and a half and the standings are tight in USGT.

https://sites.google.com/site/nationalusvtapoints/why

FYI...when you sign up you sign up for that year...so if you sign up now it will only be from now until July 31st. You would need to sign up for the following year after Aug 1st.

Congrats to Chris Vogan who moved to the top of the USGT national points chase. Chris is a regular at The Gate and has proven to be one of the guys to beat in a very competitive USGT class.

Whats also awesome is that the top 4 are separated by 8 points but only 2 of them have raced each other once that I can tell. They are spread out from PA or OH, IN, IL and GA. Its cool to see people from all over the country be able to battle it out....we have guys from CA, IN, IL, WI, GA, OH and PA in the top ten. With some good results in the last few weeks anyone can take the lead....:tire::tire::tire::tire:
