2010 Reedy Race of Champions
I am pleased to announce, on behalf of Kevin Jelich and myself, Nor-Cal Hobbies in Union City, California is to be the new home of The Reedy Race of Champions. The event will be held May 27-30. 2010
The decision for Nor-Cal Hobbies to be the new venue stems from a few factors; our facility, our experience, and our location. We have the facility to pit 200 racers indoor as well as have ample parking. The asphalt surface is glass smooth, with spectacular grip. Track layouts are our specialty (I personally designed the original Reedy track - Ripon). Of course we offer an on-site, surface only, hobby shop. Together, Kevin and I have 50 years experience in this sport, be it racing and business. Kevin has won this event, and I have a 2nd. We have 3 of the best race directors that could handle this event on their own. We have an amazing assembly of experienced and professional staff unselfishly dedicated to the future and enjoyment of our sport. We're located in the middle of 3 major international airports. We're 25 minutes south of San Francisco. We have a shopping center with every major restaurant franchise represented and the host hotel all one mile from the track. This event was just presented to us, yet we'll easily rise to the occasion to bring back the glory of the Reedy Race of Champions. For now, look to norcal-hobbies.com/reedyrace for information. This site will be updated daily. Entries (and the form) will open tomorrow to the first 160 contestants. |
Awesome news Eric. :nod::nod:
Wish I could be there to take some race pics...maybe I can make it down there...living in Portland right now. |
yes good news indeed, now I get to attend two major events there this year.
|
Congrats Eric... You have been working really hard and deserve to have this race at your track.
I will try my best to make it....... Hope to see you there... :) |
does anyone know how much the fee for the race will be???
|
If solaris tires are gonna be chosen, let's see the new spoked black rim versions as the spec tires. Not the white ones.
|
Congrats to Eric, Kevin and the norcal crew......

Congrats Nor-Cal crew! I'm going to try my best to attend. I just need to convince the professors that this is a worth cause to leave for a week

This is great news and I am pumped for the race. I do have a quick question...
How many classes can one person sign up for? It seems the wording in the flier might be a little misunderstood..at least by me. "One entry per person" kind of implies I can only run one class. It might be better to say. One entry form per person with a max of X entries. |

Nor-Cal crew attached is a fillable form for entrants to complete and will make it a little easier for you all to read instead of needing to decipher everyones handwriting;) Can you please post on your 2010 RROC site? Thanks!

So the only way we can sing up for the race is to mail it in??????

I would like to thank Eric Vasutin and Kevin Jelich for stepping forward to host the Reedy Race and continue an on-road racing tradition. I'd also like to thank Scotty Ernst for all the effort that he has made to help keep the Reedy race alive.
Even though the information was posted later than we would have liked (my fault), there is still enough time to sign up and enjoy one of the best races of the year at one of the best facilities in the country. |
I am extremely excited about this years Reedy Race! I know Kevin Jelich personally and I have raced at Nor-Cal Hobbies a couple of times and all I can say is these guys are top notch and you will not be disspointed in anyway. Nor-Cal Hobbies is also very experienced when it comes to putting on a show. Believe me.... it will be a great time with some competitive battles in every class. The surface is well kept, traction will be legit and the Hobby shop is stacked with all the race goodies.
Get your travels booked...you dont want to miss this one! |
so can we run two classes?
|
well it looks like i have my flight situation all worked out and i will see all of you at the 2010 reedy race lookin forward to it!
|
Sounds like this will be a really cool event after all! Way to adjust guys!
|
Will 17.5 follow ROAR rules making it a spotsman class and not let sponsored drivers run the class?

Nor-Cal Hobbies is the perfect venue to host this race. To bad it was kinda like a last minute resort, it should have been on top of the list!! Either way, just happy that it worked out in the end because when it's all said and done you will see that the Reedy Race of Champions has a new home for awhile. All the pieces are in place to make this an outstanding event. Expect very good traction on a flowing and rhythm style layout that we do in the bay:sneaky: Sedan racing is really thriving in our area and we should easily pull 80-100 entries for the club races over the next month or so and even carrying over into the summer for the roar nats. Scotty E. made this race an industry standard and a global production and not having him apart of it this year puts pressure on the new hosts with it being so late announced, but we are ready....trust me:nod: Anybody who is on the fence about attending shouldn't be, you're not going to want to miss out on this one!

As the entry form states it is one entry per person. This gives as many people as possible the opportunity to compete at this event.
There is not a sportsman class. Yet, as each entrant is allowed to compete in only one class, you should not see the true factory drivers competing in the 17.5 class. |
