Considering that my local track doesn't have any on-road racing this week, the Reedy situation looks pretty good to me...

The Reedy Race of Champions. A race to Honor the accomplishments and contributions to our hobby by Mr. Reedy.

It seems that the "Powers that be" are doing Mr. Reedy a disservice. What a shame...

Now for the obvious comment:

"I've seen club races planned and promoted better than this." You guys are capable of better. Its all on you.

I have largely kept my peace and read this discussion but after I decided to write Scotty about what seems to be the source of the delay I will simply say that these guys are doing the best they can to make sure this is one heck of a show and that there are some circumstances beyond their control that are holding things up.

Since I have been one of many complainers, Can you please helps us understand a little more clearly since you have talked to someone within?

the basic gist of what he said to me (as it relates to the race site) is that things are held up because they're waiting on a decision from a company that is adjacent to the track they are looking at having the race (he did not specifically name it since the decision is pending) and they want to have parking for a very large number of racers and once they have that decision in hand they can make a specific announcement. Apparently said company (at least as I interpreted what he said) has waited a good bit of time and with the race as close as it is a decision is needing to be made so that this race can go off.

Cool "A CLASS ACT"

It would be cool if the RROC had a mini class, there would be like a zillion sign-ups for that.
I hope too that the powers that be will do what is best for the sport and for the tradition that Mr. Reedy started.
I think they should think more about what is good for the sport and not the monitary value of the race. It's not always about the money. With the economy the way it is, breaking even on the cost would be so bad would it?
1/10 scale electric has always had it's up and down cycles and this is no exception. Just to see the best drivers in the world come together and compete in one track where amateur drivers can hobnob with the best RC has to offer. I believe that is the vision that Mr. Reedy had when he organized this race, not about how much money he could make!
Just my 2$

I didnt sense in Scotty's reply to me someone who was merely in this for the money. He has been a race promoter/announcer/fellow racer for a number of years (probably more than I know to be sure) and I dont for one minute think this is only about making money. He wants to be able to make sure that no matter how many people come, that they have space for all of them at the track.

I don't race Mini's, but that does sound pretty cool.
If Scotty takes it to Vegas, and on carpet, then I would say F1's would be even cooler
