I believe the Parma axles are made of steel.

I think he moved to South Carolina, I'm sure his site will be back up soon.

There is a new track opening in south western corner of New Hampshire. The hobby shop has been around for a while, and does everything from planes and trains to nitro boats. Building a track in the office space above the shop is a low budget affair for now. They want to use the existing carpet until they can afford to get the real surface. I ran a 1/12th on it Sunday, it is a tight loop style nap that you could find in any high traffic office style building. It will grip the tires to a certian point then when the tires get beyond a certian angle to the nap direction it lets go of the tires allowing the rear of the car to snap around in just about any direction. Will tire compound and rubber worn into the rug allow this to ever get better, or is it going to be like this for life? If it will always be like this, I will only run my sedan on it, it dosen't seem to be nearly as effected by it.

I think what we need to do is get everyone to put their notes together and send them in to Shane. There is a Tip/Tech area on the front page but nothing new in there. If we send in a format or whatever he would need to just be able to post it he probably would.
Siince RCTech is the place to be for 12th scale, or any onroad for the matter. Might as well have a tips/setup area to save people from having to search through hundred of pages. take care john |
timmay70 - You could try sunblock. I've used california baby sunstick on ozite and the grip is excellent. The only reason I don't use it normally is becuase paragon is cheaper. You just rub it into all of the tire including the sidewall, it's a little greasy for a lap, then it's hooked-up. Could work.

I will give that a shot next time I am there. They plan to run oval on it for one of the days, possibly carpet supercross and then road course on Sunday. Hopefully there will be enough rubber worn into the carpet with the oval racing that it will help it wear in. It won't be my only 1/12th outlet, but it is slightly closer than the other track.

can anyone tell me what is the best traction compound they have used on their foam tyres. i have tried LRP blue factor and that seems ok but can i use paragon fx2 on foam tyres .
|
Paragon ground effects is the best for foam. I think fx2 is for rubber tires.
|
There were no rubber tires for our cars when FX2 came out. There weren't even any touring cars. We had 1/12 on road, 1/12 oval, 1/10 on road and 1/10 oval. Paragon created Special FX for cap tires used on some high banked oval tracks, but there were no rubber tires as we know them back then. FX2 will be fine for your foam tires if the track owner will allow it and Ground Effects is banned.
|
If the majority of the racers on your track either use Paragon or TQ, stick with what everyone else uses. Using Paragon on a track that is run majority by TQ coumpound or vice versa is a bad thing. Paragon and TQ are like oil and water, they don't mix.

effects of ackerman
what are the positive or negative (including any traction rolling tendencies on high bite carpet) of more versus less ackerman.
I am using old style front-end with the servo glued flat to the chassis. |
