Newracer- the clamping hub is my favorite now. It may not be as totaly true in motion as the Assoc. screw on but it is easier and more consistent to set side play and I think stronger. The Assoc. screw on hubs can go out of round and I have seen it happen to others as well has myself. They are also very difficult to set the side play and can back off so I normally had to sand it down and do final adjustments with very thin washers, over time the hub would wear down a little more and I would have to readjust with washers. The setscrew hub I would stay away from because of reasons mentioned by others.

thanks for the replys, I am going to order a clamp hub this week. After messing with the associated one I have, it does seem like the clamping would be the easiest to set.

Well....picked up my "Knife".......used, but only has four runs on it.....interesting to see if it is faster than my RC12LW?????

These Parma Speed 8 bodies dont give you much room for electronics, the sides swoop down a little too far:(

Slayer - That body fits the REV3 perfectly. But then the body was layed out with three different cut lines. One of those should work well with your car.

darnold 05-20-2002 11:48 AM

Spot on DaveL, I use the middle trim line on mine with a little more trimmed away in the front for clearance.

This body is awesome but it will be interesting to see what the new Andy's body will be like.

Rip-Off!!!

The Trinity body is a carbon copy of the Parma body with a splitter on the rear wing. The Parma works so well that Trinity really cannot improve on it, per se. Especially in such a short period of time as they developed theres. I would guess there drivers probably said "The Parma is the only body to use!!" so to have a competitive 12th scale body for the team, they copied the Speed 8. A fairly low class move on Andys or Trinitys part. I dont know who made that decision. I mean you never saw two identical P35 NIssans from mutiple manufacturers did you?

Left side hubs revisited

Here is my 0.02 on the left side hubs.

I have used all three style left hubs and the clamping is by far the best with the least trade-offs. The IRS left hub is super light and is reliable. Never loosens and like others have said; Set it close or far away and forget about it. The stock threaded hubs are heavy and are very difficult to set the back-lash or gap on and even harder to remove. All that extra weight with the plastic nut, threaded rod on axle, etc. NAH!!! The Niftech hub I had with the set screw was set and forget, but over time it deformed the axle over a large portion of the axles length and was actually binding the axle in the bearing!!! I had to sand the axle till it was round again. Once I switched to the IRS one, my axle spun free again, race weekend after race weekend. So now I have a NIftech axle with IRS clamping hub in a Speedmerchant car. Its a Basta-d car!!!!

Picked up a new Parma Speed 8 for my Knife....i'll check the extra lines and see if that helps.....now i gotta learn how to set up a Knife.....may turn my RC12LW into an oval car......or my Asphault car....dont wanna put any scratches on the bottom of my new ride.....:D
