The smallest receiver pack I have seen was a little 2s lipo made for a mini of some sort, about180mah. They make commonly available 2s LiFe packs at 200mah or so.

Yes. I have a Revtech 2s life pack that works awesome. I was curious if there was a smaller one available somewhere for 1/12

I've used the Losi Micro-T/B/DT battery pack for years. Small, light, Ni-MH.

In many cases you don't need a 2s receiver pack. You can use a 1s LiPo cell wired in series with the main cell (that runs the motor). The usual way of doing that is to wire the 1s receiver cell into the switch on the ESC. The regulator inside the ESC then sees a 2s voltage, and regulates it down (normally to between 5 and 6 volts).

I like running a 2s lipo rx pack for a couple reasons, but here are the big ones:

- In mod 12th I have enough drain on the battery (and get close enough to dumping as it is) that any extra strain I can eliminate is good.
- Extra voltage gives a very different steering feel, if the servo supports it (use KO). This is especially helpful with mod or when running WGT.
- Speedo fans run awesome on 2s lipo voltage and the best rx voltage fan (Sidepiece Seis) is a little big for a 12th.

I am currently running a little tiny 2s lipo pack that I believe is normally sold for usage in a foam glider/plane kit. Not sure on brand.

I disconnect the red wire from my speedo rx lead, btw.

Here is my S120LT for the fall season, changed the layout and added the new Futaba receiver and SP (1 cell) speedo. Also, TrakPower 13.5t motor and 1 cell.

Ran 1:12 for the first time last Sunday. What fun it was. Run 1:10 buggy otherwise and wanted to try something new and get variation in training. Drove 10.5 blinky. Found a new favorite car. Run the first race in 4 weeks. Trying to learn how to set the car now. Anyone have any good advice on a setup guide? Run a CRC Xi.

I was wondering why it was so heavy as well.. Uncut foams? I will put it on the scale again in racing trim with cut tires and stock front bumper.

I will post some images tonight when I get home. The trick is mounting the fan on the chassis, not on the speedo, and taking advantage of either the front wheel arches or the rise in the body towards the crossbrace, depending on if you have the battery mounted inline or transverse.

Alternately, if the fan is hitting the body, mount the body and heat the lexan where it is rubbing the fan with a lighter until you can mold it around the fan. Should only take a slight bump to make it work.
