Is the Speedmerchant Road Kill any good on carpet? I've read good things about their cars but this is the only 6 cell I can find. I've narrowed it down to either the L3, CRC 6 Pack or the Roadkill. I want a change from the Corally for next season.

I race on a VERY small carpet track, it's about 10x14m.
http://www.grccc.supanet.com/gallery/12thtrack2.jpg so a responsive car is essential. The Corallys seem to be slower than the L3s through the switchback turns because of the extra slop in the steering. I'm also going to get a good servo, is the KO digital worth it?

Thanks

louis- thats a micro track! lol. no one really runs 6 cell 12th scales anymore since it really kills the tires (the car is so heavy) and you mind as well run mod to get more speed, or 19t (which all of tracks do now).

i would highly suggest the speedmerchant (either 6 or 4 cell version) since it does the best what you are looking for (quick transitions). also with the new front end coming out it will have plenty of steering to get around that track (right now the old style front end is great, but the v-force should be alot more adjustable to tune to each track, which in your case will help you out alot, since its far from your standard carpet track)

Thanks stormperson, We are allowed to run either 4 cell mod or 6 cell stock. Some people tried 4 cell but because the track is so small it's nearly impossible to keep smooth and they kept on running out of juice. It's not that difficult to dump a 6 cell pack of 2400s with a stock motor on that track!

The carpet is not ozite, it's english Primafelt which works great with UFRA pink medium fronts and pink soft rears. I've done 10 meetings so far, 320 mins racing and I've gone through 1 pair of front tires and I'm still on the rears I started with.

Do you think Speedmerchant will come out with a 6 cell car with the new front end?

stormperson 03-16-2003 05:30 AM

they are not coming out with a new car, just a new front end (kinda different than all of the other companies, but the chassis's are both solid and proven, and really dont need much improvement, and then again there arent many things you can do). the front end will pretty much work on any car (speedmerchant or not) out there, the only thing that will be diferent for non speedmerchant cars is the piece that mounts onto the chassis.

if you can run 4 cell mod i would highly suggest it, since you will be faster (less weight) and with a track like that which requirs quick transitions i would highly suggest it. can you run 3300's? (since the GP's are probably cheaper than the packs you are currently running) if so i would highly suggest it, and maybe run a 19t motor instead of a full blown mod if you are still dumping.

Thanks, there's only 1 race to go this season and 33s will be legal for use well before the next championship. I'll ask around at the club to see what peoples' experinces with 4 cell have been like.

I'm surprised to hear that there's enough oval racing in the Philippines that you'd buy a dedicated oval car. Are there banked oval tracks there?
