No they don't spray. The asphalt is unsealed and very porous/abrasive. The traction should be fine, it eats up TC tires like crazy and they run 1/10 oval with foams on the same surface. My buddy just told me the car was loose...but it was also his first time with a 1/12 on the track. So .. I'm sure you guys will have no problem getting the cars to work. Maybe greens, whites or even grays like you guys say? I've never run 1/12 there only TC.

Hey guys..I called fastlaps and they say there's 4-5 pre-reg' 1/12rs for that two day coming up in CEN-CAL. Sent my reg out today. That makes 6. And I guess its only $35 now for the first class. Come on out guys! We are trying to push 1/12th in Cen/SoCal. You get a raffle entry with your registration when you show up to check in at the race.

And you might win a TC :p batteries or bodies!!!! There will be manf. sponsored prizes as well. Also they will be giving away some of these!

Doesn't sound too promising for foam tires without traction compound. Has anyone run 12th scale there?

I think Jim meant without spraying the track. There is usually no bite on un-sprayed surfaces for 1/12th.

Mason 07-17-2006 12:29 PM

get out the suntan lotion.

I am willing to pay for all of the cherry Coke and the sprayer if they will allow us to spray. It will not do anything to the surface of the parking lot and its environmental friendly as it's just sugar water. But of course, I guess this is a question to put to the race promoters.

jrrc 07-17-2006 12:34 PM

The track has a website/message board. Maybe ask on the message board or call the track.

the best bang for the buck is the cheapest grape soda. grape usually has the most sugar content. go to the dollar store, sav a lot or whatever the discount food store is. stroll down the soda aisle and look at the labels for sugars. around here, $6 will cover my local track. 110x55' i believe.

so there's little reason not to do it unless you are worried about weather goofing it up.

just some notes :D

Here in New Zealand it is against the rules to use any additive on your tires and it is also against the rules to spray anything on the tracks.
But we run 12th on Ashfelt all the time. Infact this past week just gone we had 9 at my local track. Grip was great and in fact I am thinking of going away from pink rears to double pink rears to try and free up the car a little. It has to much rear grip.
I think as a whole the RC community needs to get away from any additives. Most tracks have more than enough grip for our cars with out additives.

odpurple 07-17-2006 02:18 PM

You obviously haven't raced on our local asphalt tracks
