Best Shaft drive touring now
I think it is time to switch back to shaft drive car like the crazy TC3 period. What is the best on the market now?

I don't think there are any competition-grade shaft cars on the market right now.
The only kit I can think of is the Tamiya TB-03
Kyosho TF-5, and AE TC4 are available as RTRs and can be upgraded (although the TC4 is worse than the TC3!)
You might find a few old-stock Tamiya Evo5, Kyosho TF-5 (carbon version), Pro4 etc. about too.

Tamiya I think is the only company that has a current model shaft car (Evo 5MS). Yokomo stopped with the SD and kept it for their drift cars, so the design is about 7-8 years old if not more. Then there's the Kyosho stallion which needs a fair bit of work to get competitive. And that's pretty much it.

I feel shaft cars are still very competitive, even the TC4. They balance out well with LiPo.
The evo is actually heavy on the battery side with the gear in the pic and is nearly 90 grams underweight with a regular thickness LTC-R body.
I plan on machining a couple of weights with various holes that can be shifted forward and aft mounted under the shaft.
I typed the word shaft far too many times for the RCTECH crowd.....

I still have TC3 and TC4 but want to play something new. Looks like EVO is the only choice now day. I still believe the shaft drive runs faster for stock class then belt drive. It should have more advantage in stock class.

Our stock racers actually gave up their shaft driven cars fro belt drive. This may not mean anything other than part availability was an issue though.

Don't know if it's "competition grade" but i have heard the ofna jl-10e is competitive at least to up to a 13.5 class . . . .

Never liked the motor orientation on shaft cars, it cause the chassis to pivot to one side from the motor torque...
