Default F109 tuning help

I am new to the world of F1 cars and pan style cars in general (had one when I was a kid but was too young to know what to do with it).

What are the basic things to adjust to setup tuning on this car.
Basically, if the car understeers, what should be adjusted.
If the car oversteers, what should be adjusted.

I will be running on a rubberized gymnasium floor with medium front rubber and soft rear rubber tires.

Another question. What pinion gear should I use? I will be running a 10.5 brushless lipo setup and the stock spur if possible.

10.5 motor? you must be crazy. for indoors anything faster than 13.5 on life or 17.5 on lipo is too strong.

f1 is all about the tires

I know 10.5 is a little crazy but I already have it. I am goint to set the timing back and change the throttle curve to the lowest setting.

I will be using the stock foam tires and I also ordered a set of Ride rubber tires to try as well.

One thing i will say about F1 racing that you may not be aware of... and somethign that's taking me a while to get the hang of... you have to actually trust your car with f1 racing... dont come to a corner and slow down thinking you wont be able to make the turn... just keep the speed up and youll be surprised how well and responsive the car will move at high speeds.

My main problem is i instinctively brake or slow down and then go to turn and the car has lost all traction by that point and i spin out...

So you're saying no "Hamiltonesque" passing attempts?

Hey guys, I still need some help. My F109 has finally arrived and I am in the process of putting it together.

I still have to get some pinions but I don't know where to start. I'll be running the stock spur gear with a Novak 10.5 brushless system. The car will be run on a large indoor track with a 100 foot long straight away and mix of sweeping and hairpin corners. I want to find the best setup for keeping the ESC and motor cool.

Suggestions?

Single cell or 2s? If you're running 2S get a larger spur, maybe a 110, so you won't have to use tiny pinions. We're running 2S, silver can brushed motors and a micro 20 pinion with a giant 118 spur, on the stock foams, which actually work quite well. Our track is significantly shorter, but a silver can is probably less than half the motor when compared to a 10.5.

Motor down

It's gonna be super fast. I ran a HPI Super F1 that used 1/10 pan foams on a 10.5 2s and it was actually scary.

You might want to try a 17.5 just to see how fast it will be.

I will be running 2S. I was considering running a 17.5 but spurs and pinions are alot cheaper.
