Danny, I'm sure you've tested the fit on some cars. How does your new shell compare to Zytek or the other shells out there in terms of fitting over the electronics. Is there the same amount of room or more underneath?

Hi Conrad,

Actually, that was one of Dale's goals when making the new body.

It has a TON more room for wires and electronics. I would say there is at least a 1/2-inch gap to run your motor wires, and a lot more room over the brushless motor tabs also. The front width and wheel well area is larger too.

Very easy body to mount and fit.

This was one of the main drivers behind the new rules, that and trying to stop 12th shells turning into door wedges.
The guy who wrote the new rules has come in for some serious stick about them over the past few months, but if we end up with more shells looking like this I'm certainly happy

Will those light and ducts decals b on the sticker sheet?
Sorry for the slow reponce - kinda got away from me. Unfortunately we will not be including headlite and duct decals. (because most racers won't use them anyway) We do however include the window mask for painting.

For the photo car I just used a Protoform Monte Carlo stock car headlite decal that was cut to the AM shape. There's probably lots of sedan HL decals that would work the same.

jrrc:
Proline is shipping them as fast as the orders come in - seriously.

It's a time of year where traditionally the distibutors intentionally let inventories deplete so they can see what's new at the IHobby Show etc etc and stock up for the indoor racing scene. PLUS, with this sketchy ecomony, everyone including the distributors is being very cautious with spending and trying to avoid getting stuck with dead-beat part numbers. I remember well the way it was in the 90’s. How different it was. The “buyers” for the big distributors used to be pretty sharp individuals who knew the sport extensively and would jump on the newest hottest stuff instantly. These days they hire university grads who haven’t got a clue. They only order in bulk when they’re getting a ton of phone calls demanding this new “thing”.

Bob Stormer’s about as sharp as they come. Give Stormer Hobbies a call. jmo

Thanks for the question.

Dale - Protoform

ps: Proline does sell direct on their website if all else fails.

Tell Robert at Ashford to get some too, but then he probably has already

I'll be calling him soon looking for some.

I just recieved word that the #1611 Protoform AMR-12 body is ROAR approved. I understand that it's also recieved BRCA approval as well.

I expect to hear from EFRA any day now as to its legal status.

Dale Epp of protoFORM took time to share his thoughts on the future of the company, his background, and more.

Yeah, I'd have liked masks too but that body is so good, and half the price of a flimsy Zytec that I'll deal with it
