Anyone got a part number for the bling bling .. gold screws?

theisgroup 07-29-2004 05:10 AM

i don't have the manual in fron tof me, but you need to re-adjust the "vr" i believe. It basically is to setup the resistance at full lock for the steering . What is happening is the radio does not think that it is at full lock. so the steering mechanism is not set correctly, does not provide enough on the variable resistor to signal full lock.

Hi,

a couple of days ago one of the guys I race with came over to me with his Helios. He was trying to alter the "steering" balance" but he could only make changes to the right side. When you are in the steering balance meny you rotate the steering wheel all the way to the right to make the * appear indicating that you can now make adjustments. But when he rotated the steering wheel all the wat to the left ,the * didn't appear. So he could not adjust the left side.

So I checked my Helios and it was the same!

Is there any other setting that causes this? I have adjusted the steering balance earlier but now I can only adjust one side.

What's going on?

Just like theisgroup stated, you must go to the function called Adjust VR. This will reset the pots in the radio. If they do not reset, then you know that you have a bad pot will need to send it in for repairs. I tell all of our pro-drivers to do this at least once a month to make sure that everything is working correctly. It is an easy way for your to calibrate the pots yourself.

What is the size of the gold screws? I would like to see if I can find Ti screws in that size.

I don't know if this has been asked already, but is KO ever going to release a synthesized module and receiver? I've used KO transmitters for the past 10+ years and the only reason I would change is to use the synthesized setup to get away from crystals

I have the same problem with mine too, I just crank the wheel a bit more left (ahm ahm!) using some force and the asterick will show up on the menu screen. I know, it's not right by something I just live with.

BTW, is anyone's Helios suck up batteries like in no time? Compare to the Type 2000R, I have to change alkline batts more often???

hey dom.. i have two helios radios.. and both are fine in terms of battery life. in one radio, i use the ko battery pack and charger. my 75band radio uses energizer rechargable batteries. the ones that are esp. designed for digital cameras. you can get 4 + charger for about $30 at best buy. i charger all 8 batteries the night before a race, and the next race day i can go a whole day without charging. one thing i did notice is battery life is shortened whenever i make a lot of adjustments. but once all my adjustments are done, im okay.

This is a simple fix.

I had same problem and called ko...you had to go into the adjust vr and recalibrate the radio..it is real simple..get into the screen turn full left and full right and full throttle and full brake and it resets the radio.

Consult the manual on the adjust vr if you are still unclear.
