I have an early TC3. The trans ratio is: 2.5:1
So to obtain a FDR of 3.6 I would need to run a 72 T (48pitch) spur with a (48 pitch) 50T pinion......that just doesn't seem right??? Am I missing something here? My tires are 2.57"dia. so that would give a roll-out of 2.25"

They are a direct bolt on. I then pair them with 34 to 37 tooth pinions. I did have to remove some of the webbing behind the motor mount to make room for the larger pinion.

I bought a used TC3 recently. I've got three others. What's different about this one is that the chassis tub is in great shape, but there are no pads on the chassis for the droop screws to press against. The A-Arms don't have droop screws either.

Greetings Indy. I'd picked-up a used roller several years ago and discovered the same thing(s). I was always under the impression that this [chassis] was a rally car version of the TC3.Anyways, i'd held on to it as a parts car-it's still whole in a drawer.

rally coversion was just 200mm arms, cvd's & turnbuckles, a new bumper, longer shock shafts with buggy springs and some wheels and tires.
A question for rc gurus
Which scenario would be more preferable. A larger spur gear and a larger pinion gear or a smaller spur and a smaller pinion gear....
55/37--- 3.7162 final drive for tc4 or
52/35--- 3.7143 final drive for tc4.
Would one be more durable or efficient than the other?
I know this is the tc3 thread but u guys were talking about gearing..

personally i would use what made the car balanced better with the rest of my componants
I would go with the 55/37 just because of the better gearing range for most motor: 17.5t, 21.5t, 13.5t(big track)..

yes, on the first TC3's droop was adjusted with shocks later came the extra hole for shock position and droop screw known as V2. Arms with droop setting will work just fine on that chassis ... there is just enough for the set screw to rest on

.....Knowledge indeed.For what it's worth, after crap-tastic day of work especially a race day during the winter months[when I can't race because of work], i'd open the drawer where my tc-3's are,and tinker a little.....eventually leading to a Diggity conversion.

Just pulled my TC3 off the shelf for some fun and the first thing i need to do is replace the wheels/tires. I have tried reading through this insane thread and still have some questions about what wheels will fit on there.
I am looking at the HPI 26mm wheels but i am seeing some say they fit right on and others saying you need to drill the holes. Some are saying i need to get the aluminum hexes.
I have a V1 team kit with the plastic hexes.
Can anyone let me know what the best approach is for replacing the wheels?
Also, any other obvious upgrades?

I bought the HPI 26mm wheels and they fit right on the stock hexes without a problem.

Indy RC Racer built this TC3 for me out of as much BLUE stuff as we could find! We raided his parts box and mine. Together, we have a BLUE beast! Yes, that's a brushed motor, but it was BLUE! Indy RC Racer says there is more blue TC3 stuff out there that he's seen over the years, so I'll start looking... The KISS body I airbrushed was the BLUE-est one I had.
