the lightweight STEEL diffs are almost the same as the ally ones and much much stronger they should be rebuilt when the feel gritty by the book but i do mine once a month

fully built its a tad heavier but i aint weighted em i will 1 day but me car is dead on the 1500 about 1501-3 so its just on the weight level so i dont care lol it almost gives u the weight of ally but the strength of steel. I would compramise weight for strenght in a diff any day

Default Wheel nuts falling off

I am running my TC3 on carpet for the first time and the wheel nuts keep backing off. I actually lost a left rear wheel in my feature chasing the leader. What causes this? The nuts were new since I had trouble with them backing off during the heats, so I replaced them (factory blue ones, was also using the factory blue non clamping outdrives). I've heard the factory nuts are too long but my buddy had no issues... although he had a racer kit... Any ideas??? loosing a wheel is no way to loose a feature.

Thanks

I found that with the wheel nuts on backwards they would tend to grab the boards when I "tapped" them, breaking arms. I was given the advice to switch to Losi low profile wheel nuts. I have NEVER lost a wheel since changing over and they sit in the wheel nicer too.

You use the Losi low-profile nuts...and still put them on backwards? Why? The nylon thread lock easily gets good bite on the threads when used the normal way.

There must be something amiss on my car... I will have to look into it. The wheel nut I've just noticed didn't have a thread cut into the nylock portion, no wonder it fell off..... *L* Maybe I made a super rookie mistake and didn't tighten the nut?
