i run them they dont bind as much as the std ones do but i think goin to the TC4 steering would be best sure it means a bit of drill work but its better in the long run

The binding is caused by dirt. I don't think an aluminum one will have an advantage.

I actually run a steering rack in my MI2. It is a lot stonger than the stock steering and it gives me infinite ackerman adjustment. As for the aluminum I run on a track that uses PVC w/couplers and have broke the rack once and I'm just looking for some added insurance.
Thanks

I haven't tried it but in theory at least I can think of a couple of reasons why the alloy rack could have an advantage. For sure the binding is caused by dirt. Over time I think the dirt wears a little bit into the plastic, and ends up accumulating faster or more. I reckon with the alloy rack this might be reduced.
I think that there can be some static in the plastic parts which can actually attract dirt, at least it seems that way sometimes, particularly on carpet, and alloy would be better in this regard.
Another possibility, particularly for those like me who race outdoors at night, is that with an alloy rack, particularly a silver one, you can visually verify the thoroughness of your cleaning a lot more positively, as opposed to black dirt on a black plastic rack.
So, I'm not planning on going for the alloy rack, but like I said, in theory at least I can think of a few possibilities why it *might* be better.

I agree. The alloy one would be easier to see the dirt and confirm that all is removed. Black dirt on a black part is truly hard to see/remove. Also, when scraping away the dirt, the alloy would last longer and not develop as much slop.
G`day,
Could anyone suggest a starting ratio for the Trinity Green Machine.
The track layout changes from meet to meet so it`s going to be hard to get one spot on...BUT something close that i can fine tune from is all i`m after.
Cheers

at my track (lots of 180's) i run a 2.4 as the pinion/spur. if there rn't many 180s at your track i'd run something lower.
also, does anyone know where to find a bunch of tc3 setups (other than AE's site) thanks.

You just gotta look a bit. Plus the fact that I said forum instead of thread probably didn't help.

TC3 Shock Rebuild
I recently got some Associated threaded shock bodies with unobtainium shafts in a used TC3 purchase + parts. I split the cost of the lot with my cousin and I get some of the parts. I was wondering if I've got the correct parts to get this project going:
LX2582 Associated End Cap Plastic
LX2606 Associated Mounting Kit w/Rod End
LXRB00 RPM Lower Spring Cups Blue Associated
LXPA21 Associated VCS Macro Shock Rebuild Kit
It looks about right. I double checked the TC3 manual. I already have some shock pistons so I don't need to order anymore of those. I know some other shocks have bladders and have read others use bladders from different companies. Is there a better/alternate way to rebuilding these Associated shocks? Thanks!
