irs axle stink just scrape the wall and there it goes there is no
advantage to using them and as far as the spools
i seen guys that can make the a main at a national and disentergrate a spool . these parts are just as prone to breakage then the factory parts the irs axles are diffinatly a cheaper buy!

td71,
When the KO GP was at SoCal in June, I raced with a 6.94 overall(a core based handout motor), which was 36/100 in 64pitch gears.

That's not too high. I gear mine 75/28, which is 6.69 GR, 72/26 would be 6.92. That is just about right from what the guys around here are running.

that got hot
I use an infared heat gun to tell if my gearing is ok for the motor. In my opinion ya can just gear it till it melts. A few times what felt good on the track seemed a little warm when I was done I dont like to get my motors over 150f or so. I know Ive seen on forums that others run em alot hotter but for what I do reliability is more important. thats just what my little experience has taught me.

might be the drive train is binding.too much load will cause shorting/smoking/frying,as the current can't be converted into motion, thus it converts to heat.
i've geared my stockers(27T) up to mid 5's and 23T stockers into high 5's,no problem as long as there was sufficient cooling between packs.

But I broke one when I clip a corner, when the arms broke, one of the wing on the outdrive gave way.
Incidentally I use, IRS Side Braces, Drive cups, spur gear holder, trans. holder and so many more-- all from IRS!
Peace and Happy Racing!!

The manual reccomends 28 so 26 should be safe i would think?
Was it because his motor had a defect?
O well... at least I TQed and took first...

Hey lem2 you do know you can order everything straight from the IRS website. The address is:
http://www.teamirsrc.com
Probably will get your equipment faster that way.
