Hi,

I just bought a 21.5r ver.3 that will be installed in a onroad touring car, what is the maximum safe temperature to run these motors at?

Thanx in advance.

Max temp is 180deg F. any higher it wont last very long.

I try and keep my motors at about 150 degrees, they last longer that way. no higher than 160 for a club race. At a big race, I may go a bit higher than that.

So keep in the ball park of 70 to 80 degrees Celsius, am I better of temping of the can or temping of the end of the rotor if possible?

If I temp of the rotor should I be aiming for a lower temp?

Just solder it up to a justock and used 6000mah turnigy lipo and it seems quite a potent little motor, good value for money.

Im not sure what 180 deg F is in C....but thats the max temp you want to get it to I would say 170F or less is comfortable.

Take the temp off the side of the can if you can see the stator take it off that because thats what will fail when it gets above 180F. You will melt off the varnish on the windings and then it just melts down into goo.

Superior Hobbies. I think it's marketed as the F-5? Cut off the yellow wire and power the fan off the esc battery terminals.

Bingo....but they don't have that yellow wire no more. Just power that directly from the power terminal of your ESC. It is a MUST HAVE for any serious TC racing.

No Yellow wire, half the price, equal performance and powered from your receiver:
