Here is a question for those running VTA. I am running a Speed Passion GT2.0 ESC, and I am using full DRRS setting as well as the Full Timing setting. The car feels great on the top end, but compared to the really fast guy, it doesn't have as much punch in the infield. I am wondering if I am setting something wrong as far as the DRRS setting, which from my understanding is for punch control? I have it turned up to 8, which I thought was no DRRS, but could I actually be doing full limiting instead? (don't have my card with me right now, just wanting to confirm).

I.E. 90/48 or something like 118/24????

For gearing my FDR right now is about 4.25 . Feels perfect top end wise.
I am however using a Tekin Redline 21.5 motor . The motor though is not getting hot, its like 120 degrees max coming off the track, while other guys in the hunt using the ballistics are getting in the 160s. I haven't played with the physical timing on the motor itself (coming from a sensorless background here) as I was thinking that whats in the software matters versus what the motor is set too, so I just left it at from the factory.

1. change your gearing utilizing the same FDR, try a larger spur and smaller pinion that will still end in a 4.25ish FDR. Some people say this makes zero difference some people swear buy it.
I have been told (I can't prove it because I'm a crappy driver and I can't feel it) but if you run a larger spur and smaller pinion you will get back some of the natural torque of the motor theoretically
2. you can also mess with the timing but that's more of a fine tuning top end than torque

thanks adam. I'll see what I can do. I have a Speed Passion GT2.0 from about early June, I am wondering if I am off also on what software I should be using too.
Anyway to tell what software currently is on a system without the LCD Programmer card?
Also, big thanks too, spoke with Shawn and he is going to help me out with the LCD Card since I am waiting for the SA V2 to come in and use that. I really appreciate that!
Lastly, did you guys get in some V3 21.5s? Maybe my Tekin and Speed Passion setup isn't playing nice together!

I would use the 312 for the 21.5 class, but just like now MAKE SURE the timing and DRRS are maxed out, that software doesn't like settings below maxed out
And yes, i have V3 21.5's

Yep I am good, just downloaded the file and will be upgrading the software later today when I get home..
I will be testing the GT 2.0 Pro ESC with SP 17.5 V3 motor this week, I ran the v3 motor with SPX earlier really liked how the motor ran... very cool but was not able to get the spx to kick in the turbo or variable timing early enough... i had to use negative exponential on throttle (on my dx7) to get it going properly but then the throttle control was not as smooth as expected but the motor was definitly very fast
none the less will be testing the SP brushless combo to see how they perform together on my xray t2 08/09... at this point wondering if anyone else has been running the v3 17.5 motor with gt 2.0 pro esc and if they had any recommendations on good starting point for the FDR...
i am running on a 100 feet by 50 feet track ... straight away is about 95 feet and change and current FDR is exactly at 5.0
thanks!

I did some testing yesterday in our outdoor track that is 170x70.
what i have found is with the exact same gearing as the older v2.0 17.5 and 13.5. the motors ran an average of 10-15 degrees cooler. As i geared it up(for kicks) the motors race even cooler.
My 13.5 v3.0 after a 5 minute run, i temped at 98 degrees on the endbell. and that was 3 teeth higher than previous.
This was with NO motor timing advance. I think out of the box, the timing should not be touched and the motors are excellent as they are. I will still test them with some Motor timing and see the results. Ill keep you all posted.
