Need some help here... With the Winter Carpet season approaching Im sure there are many guys and gals gearing up. A few buddies and myself decided we were going SpeedPassion for ESCs this year based on the rep we have heard about them. Many of us purchased the GTV2.1 EX for 12th scale pan as well as WGT. Unfortunately we just figured out we have to upload a different firmware to get our 10.5, 13.5 and 1 cell to work correctly.

First is this indeed the case and second what do I need to update the firmware?

I do have the new Revington Pro 1.1 programmer if there is a way to use that?

Default Little off topic but....

Hey guys,

I'm an industrial design student and I'm currently working on designing improvements for a soldering Iron used by DIY RC car enthusiasts, if you guys could give me any insight into your world that would greatly appreciated,

1) If you could add or subtract anything from the iron, what would it be?

2) What are you soldering, how often?

3) Do you turn on/off as needed, or is soldering iron left on after completing task?

4) Do you consider safety concerns?

5) Do you find stress in hand when using? Would you perfer a differnet way of holding the iron?

6) What kind of iron do you use?

7) How much does it weight?

8) How long have you been working with a soldering iron?

Thank you for your feedback.

Ok, I'll play along

1) My home iron is perfection, so I would say nothing else is needed... unless you could make it wireless

2) 16ga through 12ga wire, connected to motor and ESC tabs. Sometimes smaller wire for LEDs, etc. How often varies, frequently with a new car when finding a good wire layout, etc., but once it's set, the iron may stay cold for a few weeks.

3) I leave the iron on while I know I still have a few things to solder, but if it'll be 10+ minutes before my next task, I'll turn it off. I turn it off when I'm done of course.

4) Yes, I do. Melted skin, melted clothes, melted plastic, none are a good thing.

5) No, I'm fine with the current design(s)

6) Hakko FX888D at home, a $20 60W Hobbico iron in the pit bag for on-the-go emergencies.

7) The Hakko has a heavy station, which is why it stays at home. The Hobbico is super light.

8) On and off for the past 15 years, a lot more since I got into RC.

As a side note, this probably wasn't the best thread to post this in. I'd try the general forum or something similar, you'll get a much wider audience.

Unfortunately you'll need the old Pro LCD box and the proper update software installed on your computer to change the software on the GT series speed controls. Maybe try asking around your club, if there's anyone who's ran Speed Passion there, they're bound to have one around.

does the stock club race ESCs come with a programmer box or you need to buy one?

How hard is it to program the stock club race escs?

Default New software

...did anyone notice? A new software (plus manuals) has recently been released on the Speed Passion site: http://www.speedpassion.net/en/download.asp

Has anyone tried it already? The version is V1.1.0.23. Unfortunately, according to the description, it doesn't include new stock firmware, only mod, drift and crawler.

Need to confirm this.

I got REVENTON-R esc. Can I use SP 5.5T motor for this esc???

In SpeedPassion product web site, it stated REVENTON-R motor limit is 7.5T or slower.
In SpeedPassion PDF manual , it stated REVENTON-R motor limit is 5.5T or slower.

SP 5.5T max amp is 65A

Which one is correct??

the answer to that may depend on what you plan to use it on.

personally, running an esc right at its limit isn't a good thing.
