Default Idea to Use brushed motor dyno for brushless

Can anyone out there tell me if this would work please.

1. Conected the power wire to a brushless esc instead of a brushed motor.
2. Fit a reciever pack to a reciever.
3. Plug brushless esc into reciever
4. Keep full throttle held on Transmitter
5. Start motor dyno test.

Crazy Idea I know, but I can't see a technical reason why it wouldn't work.

If it works it could be used to compare esc effeciency as well as motors.

I'm thinking there must be a reason it wouldn't work or it would have been done before.

I'm wondering if Novak's Sentry can be used to come up with some kind of crude dyno.

The brushless RPM sensor (measured at the motor sensors it appears) combined with the current sensor might be a decent start. You could simulate load with a prop or something I guess.

Sounds possible.

Although I don't have a Sentry I do have a very expensive robbitonic dyno that I have not even tried yet. If I could use it to test brushless I'd be very happy. Don't want to break anything trying it

it sounds like the sentry has the appropriate accelerometers to be able to calculate power output based on the telemetry.

....

It works. Fairly common among some of the oval guys who've been running the Brushless Racing League.

get rid of the RX and TX and use a servo testor.

I'm thinking an extra rx with the failsafe set to full throttle

No luck so far.

Hooked up gtb with 4 cell receiver pack.

The gtb seems to be getting confused when you apply the throttle and there is no main input voltage.

Miller tyme, do you know what esc's they have used?

Most guys use the CE turbo dyno for brushless testing and use the B/L esc to run the motor.

All I've got is a robotrinic and novak gtb. Do you know what esc they used?

It doesn't need to be rc specific

Were using the CE Turbo Dyno - output hooked to the input of the ESC (using both GTB and LRP) with the ESC switch on, when the dyno is started it puts a set voltage to the ESC and with the radio throtte held full, the motor spins.

Check LEFTHANDER-RC.com under brushless

that's a darn good idea... and it makes sense since brushless is more of a system than brushed.
