Soldering help???

I'm looking to get a soldering iron and am clueless as to what to get. First of all what wattage iron should I get? I've heard that it should be above a certain wattage, but is too much wattage bad? Also what is the difference between solder and flux? Or are they the same thing? Also what size should I get if I'm going to be soldering batteries and motor leads?

Lastly, is there a good place online to look or buy irons?

TIA,
Zach

most irons you can just get at menards, or hardware stores. The mininum should really be 60 watts, but that really isn't good for batteries. I wouls say 80 and up, it's a good allaround iron. It's fun when you can just heat it up, touch, touch, and your motors off. Solder ESC's is alittle tricky, unless you get a point tip, which i need to get.

I am using the 60 watt hobico iron. It is probaly the best iron I have ever used, the tips are perfect. I just finished assembling my third pack with it, and its also great for hardwiring.
