I just wanted to thank Larry for all of the help over the past two weeks. My new Photon was really dialed at the Halloween Classic in stock touring this weekend. The only thing I adjusted the entire weekend (successfully) was camber on the car. The medium Solaris premounts were great too -and seemed to get faster the more I ran the tires.

One more BIG shout out to The GOAT for helping resolve my shock drama Sunday morning after wrenching until 3am. I'm still learning the car, and the necessary maintenance points but hopefully next time out I can do even better.

Martin, long time since I have seen you at a race. Curious to hear what your camber settings were for the front and rear of your car?

Is this a general question?

If the grip is low, consider dropping a spring rate (or maybe two) all round. Maybe dropping a bar rate also. Should compensate for the lower grip.

No need to change too much if the car is well balanced already.

Is there anything I can do to improve the sealing and get them to work like the new shocks, if possible

What do the o ring grades 20 30 40 mean?

Also please recommend piston for indoor carpet

Using TRF shocks but would like to get the TOP shocks working, they don't look to be a whole lot different TBH

Cheers in advance

That is a link to the Teflon guides that go in the v2 shocks. They will work in the v1 shocks and make your v1 shocks very smooth with out having to buy the whole v2 shock set.

As far as sealing, I can't get mine to seal completely. They always seem to leak a little bit, but that's ok for me because I rebuild them before every race.

And for the o-rings, I have been told they don't matter. Which makes me wonder why they have different ones.

I gather, but it's part guess, o-ring type/grade will have to do with tightness, a tighter fitting o-ring will likely leak less, but the catch is probably give more friction, it's also got to do with oil thinness your using as well.

This applies to all the shock parts, hence why you can get lower friction pistons, and even shafts, less friction means a better working shock, but really I try to build my shocks leak free so far, I don't really enjoy building shocks that often.

Big tip I know from some of the pros has always been some slime on the o-rings during the build, it's supposed to make them smoother and leak less I think, I'm using like synthetic brake grease on mine, super slippery and won't react with anything plastic or rubber.

I will only use the 40 degree o rings. They just feel like they make the shocks smoother to me. But I'm crazy picky about my shocks so its just my opinion.
