hello.
i have a problem with the handeling of my photon.
it feels real slugish if i type it right
its real slow from left to right.
i dith run a photon off a other driver en it is good.
mine with the same setup is slooow
i dith try difrent setups none of them works.
hope somebody have some tips
ps i have rebuild it 2 times. al looks good .
so now problems with binding.
and i build my shocks always with no rebound for aspalt.

Is your steering linkage working smoothly when the servo is not attached?
Are the shocks binding? Are the arms binding? Are the bearings spinning freely on both sides of the car?
I know that you said there were no problems with binding but are you sure?

yoke, that is what I did. I had a 008EU and moved to the Photon.
For handling, unfortunately I went over two months without running my Xray, then started running the Photon on another track, so it's hard to be certain about handling or speed. Also, I've developed the opinion that any touring car can be fast enough, it's a question of setup and driving that determines speed.
Part quality is great, and at the prices of TOP parts, I think that's a huge advantage.
There are a few times during the build had me thinking "here, I prefer the Xray," but also times when I thought the Photon was better. Overall, the Xray is _slightly_ more refined, but that's the advantage of re-releasing the same platform repeatedly over four years. And TOP seems to be working at correcting most of these issues, so I don't think it'll be four years before they are even.
Examples where I preferred the Xray:
-pre-built diffs
-servo mount was simple as possible (servo right against mounts, done)
-built-in servo saver
-instruction manual
-kit includes diff oil and shock oil
Examples where I preferred the Photon:
-greater range of inner camber link adjustment
-easier and greater range of lower hinge pin height adjustment
-shocks are spectacular
-flat spots on CVD pins
-lipo holding system is brilliant
-bearings are extremely free out of the box
-every time I see the invoice on my credit card ;>
I'm convinced that they are both excellent cars.

I am shure its binding free.
my servo is a futaba 9551. i use a smal kimbroug servo saver.
it is shorter as the standart servo horn.
so the the steering speed wil be lower with the shorter saver i think
can this make the slugish feeling?

Hello Everyone,
I'm here in Lostallo at the moment but I see some interesting things about the handling of the Photon...
For the over rotation of the Photon in the center of the corner - please test these things:
#1 - Move weight forward in the car. The Photon is a little rear heavy (especially with everyone stacking weight for the Lipo's). I balanced my car left/right and then added 3-4 of the 7g weight blocks beside the front spool to test with more weight forward. This helped this problem and smoothed the car out. Also, you can use a bigger spur/pinion combo to move the motor more forward and this may also help.
#2 - Test a front shock position a little more stood up, this will usually help with this also.
#3 - Mount the body a little further back on the car. It seems the Photon has enough steering in most all conditions but too much downforce on the front can cause you to adjust other set-up details making it difficult to get the low speed steering but high speed stability you may need. Make sure to run the rear wing further back as well as this will also help with stability.
#4 - Sounds quite odd but I'm finding the differential in the Photon may actually be too good...lol... It is super free and you can actually load the car over so far in the center of the corner that the inside rear wheel comes up - unloading the rear tire and allows the diff to free wheel (allows outside rear to accelerate) and suddenly the car will become loose in the center of a corner.... Give it a try, for sure you will have more on-throttle steering but also you should have a little less, more stable steering on entry and in the center of the corner...
Time for sleep... More 1/8 practice tommorow. Also, if anyone is interested in check out the 1/8 WC I am sure RedRC will be here next week and I will have live updates each night on our site - www.cefx.net
