Hi Guys,

it was posted that it is a copout that the companies are not sending the drivers because of the Swine Flu, Actually it is the cause of the last minute drop outs from the invitational class. We had confirmations from most of the invite drivers previous to this situation so the companies were planning on sending the drivers and supporting the event.

Across the oceans from us in Asia, The Swine Flu has been made out to be the worst plague to hit the US in decades! This is no exaggeration! The news reports and print are all about this huge virus that is here in the US. This has caused over reaction by all companies over there not only in our industry.

Unfortunately it has caused companies in our industry to reconsider sending their employees/drivers to the US due to this current situation.

We have considered all scenarios to continue this awesome event and we all feel that the change to the World Cup format will be a the best format considering the situation that is upon us.

Since we are using this World Cup racing format, I would like to give credit to the originator of this format. It was originally designed by Jean Marc Bitticher from Switzerland and had been used for many years at the World Cup race in Europe and is an awesome format to use for racing.

Yes the change in the format will be different from the RROC that we have all been familiar with, but that does not mean change is not good. I am confident the racing will be just as exciting and thrilling as it always has been at the RROC.

Rick,Sean and I all appreciate your support and understanding in this and look forward to seeing everyone next week for another great Reedy Race of Champions.

Thanks
Scotty

I find the change to be a good compromise. Some of the modified drivers will have a chance to race with and potentially beat some of the best drivers in the world! I see this as an opportunity, not a reason to lodge additional complaints.

Way to go mass media!

According to a quick search on the internet the CDC reports that at least 800 people a week die from the regular flu in the US.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/04/28/regular.flu/

Compare that to the GLOBAL TOTAL confirmed # of 63 deaths from Swine Flu by the WHO...

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...ovTCAD985EOK00

The show will go on... but it really is sad to see all this happen.

Thanks IIG for the positive support. that is what we need and the positive outlook will help keep this great event that was started by a great man Mike Reedy going forward.

Scuba you are correct. Got to love that. Good data. You are right it is sad but the show must and will go on.

See you next week.

I'll really be watching all my SoCal buddies in Mod and rooting for them to do well. Rise and shine.

M8Commando (Sean) looks like you got your wish! Run with the big boys. Now, don't go and choke. If you do, I'ma act like I don't know you. You know I got your back regardless.

Should I now take the Video Camera?
