Are you running TRF shocks on your xray or did you anodize the shock caps etc. Aswell? Looks awesome.

We used the Serpent shocks on our T2 007 a year and half ago. There were nice, but they where much heavier than the XRAY plastic shocks. They were easier to bleed because Serpent has a bleeding slot in the threaded shock body. XRAY kind of solved this problem by putting a bleeding hole in the top cap of the shock body. Not as efficient as the Serpent solution, but works. The release of the shorter 008/009 and aluminum shocks by XRAY made the need for the Serpent or Tamiya shock obsolete.

The Serpent shock is a 2 piece system without a bladder. XRAY is 3 pieces with a bladder which varies the rebound effect.

BTW Serpent use the same shocks on their 1/10 and 1/8 Nitro cars. They have 2 shock body lengths. The shorter one will work with the XRAY bottom spring perch and ball end. Earlier version of the Serpent Nitro cars used the XRAY plastic shocks and XRAY's spring steel technology. There are many arguments whether Serpent made the shocks for XRAY or visa-versa.

Does the lack of availability of the EU 009 at places like Stormer, AMain, Nexus, etc. indicate that XRAY is coming out with a '010 soon? These things have been "on order" for quite a while. You would think that places as large as these could get an order filled in less than a week, unless RC America doesn't have them anymore.

the 010's will be out by december... Theres a really nice 008 EU in the for sale section on this site....

Um, theyll be out longg before December look at the 008's, announced and released in Mid-Late October, 009's announced and released Mid-Late October. Xray tries to get their car out in time before a lot of the BIG carpet races happen such as Novak, DHI Cup, Snowbirds, etc

Does anybody have experience with or know how the Corally LiPo tray works with the 009? How much does the plate push the LiPo away from center? Any other recommendations? Thanks

JamesReilly 08-13-2009 11:44 AM

Don't know much about the corally tray, but I would say unless you already own one I would use the Xray lipo weights. They fit perfect and the car is balance left to right spot on. ( with the radio gear I run, results may vary) plus your not raising the battery having a tray under it.

Hope that helps,
James

The Corally unit does not raise the battery.

IIGQ4,

I would recommend to utilize a Hyperdrive 108g Lipo Plate instead of the
Xray Lipo Set, Don't get me wrong the Xray Lipo weight does work and has a bling factor.

Although if you are trying to meet the min TC weight for Rubber Tire "1420", you would need to add the additional 40g of weight on the batt side, in addition to the 50g weight on the electronics side of the chassis.

With the above mentioned I found only utilizing the Hyperdrive 108g 2.5mm Lipo Tray works very well with additional 50g weight which is needed dependant on the your electronics.

Further the 108g 2.5mm lipo tray does not protrude out from the bottom of the chassis as the 130g Hyperdrive 3.5mm Lipo Tray which is intended to be used on the US Foam Spec 009.

Aside from utilizing it for rubber tire TC then I would say please progressive forward with buying the Xray Lipo Weight Set if you want to spend the $$$$$.

If you have any questions or if there is any need for further clarification,
please feel free to pm me. :)

Regards,

Alex
