Has the Team Wave esc's been tested with a single cell lipo battery?

Several of the tracks I race at are allowing a 1 cell lipo battery with a 13.5 or 10.5 motor in 1/12 scale carpet classes.

Have they been reliable with 4 cell NiMh batteries?

Eddie_E,
We haven't test 1 cell LiPo but it can run well on 4 cells NiMh. Please take care for 1 cell LiPo since there is no LiPo cut off for that.

I have recently switched to Team Wave for this coming season and have used both the RB-50 and the 10.5 Linear motor over the winter months.

Both performed very well in my TC5 and the ESC has some very good features which do make a noticable difference, mainly the timing shift and turbo function.

Thanks to Max, hopefully I will be able to get some good results for Team Wave over here in Scotland.

I will post my settings and any findings for the ESC/motor over the coming season.

How much timing do you get with turbo on and phase shift maxed out?

The Time Shift function has 4 settings. Im not sure if the 4 steps represent 1 deg each? I have found that the higher the setting, the more heat is generated in the motor.
Going up a step is almost the equivilent of going up a tooth.

The turbo function gives the motor more voltage at the throttle endpoint resulting in more RPM's. Again this generates heat in the motor.

Getting these settings correct is very important to get the best performance from your motor. Running with too much advance, a very high ratio and the turbo boost setting on will result in a very hot motor that will only lose power as it overheats.

Personally I have found the best way to use the features is to start with gearing the motor correctly (I leave the timing on the motor at factory setting), try slightly undergearing the motor at first.
Then try a run with the turbo boost on which will give the car more top end speed.
Then try increasing the time shift setting 1 increment at a time.

This will allow you to find the sweet spot for your motor at most tracks.

Need an opinion from those that have experience using this TeamWave brushless system.... any verdict on this compared to other high end brands like LRP or Speed Passion?

Just need an honest opinion.....

Also, can I know where is this product coming from as in where is it made from? This is just for my personal preferences...

I am running the RB30 in my T4. It does the job well. It is more adjustable than the LRP Sphere I have. I do prefer my Speed Passion setup for the ease of adjustability(hand held programmer) but once set up they are comparable.

Not sure exactly where they are made but they ship from hong kong

Hope this helps

Im mostly running onroad TC... most of the time would be in stock 11.5 category... Ive browsed through a few pages back and read a few blown out cases... is this something I should take a serious look at?
