As far as rebadging is concerned, take a look at the big three(well, not so much anymore) in America for a lot of examples

If it matters any, some people in my area will make any part fit any car. Trust me I've seen some things that make me wonder WTF is that crap? Coat hangers and zipties will make the body part fit.

Ok, I will go a little more up scale in that my VW Touareg shares the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne. But I think the Touareg looks better then the Cayenne and not because I own one. The Cayenne GTS is a bad ass SUV though.

the ford escape and the mazda tribute are the exact same just reabadged...the ford courier and mazda bravo are the exact same just rebadged...

these are because the Ford Motor Company own mazda but its still the exact same thing...

the axial .32 and surefire .32 still exactly the same.

That's correct. Take a look at the interior of the Vibe and Matrix. They are identical. What I found interesting is that Toyota marketed a Vibe looking model in Japan with the name Voltz and not a Matrix. Looks like the Vibe externally except the Pontiac badging is replaced with a tall, narrow "V", which looks a lot like the Pontiac symbol I do think this situation differs from the original posters point though. The Vibe/Matrix was a joint venture by GM and Toyota where the original poster was refering to a completely different third party company selling the same product to different companies that rebadge it on their own. To make this situation fit in it would be more like Ford producing a car and selling it to both Toyota and GM and they in turn badge the same car as a Matrix and Vibe respectively without any colaboration between Toyota and GM. At least that's my take on this thread.

This is not uncommon at all in all industries. It has nothing to do with RC.

Ditto, Xray T2 > AE TC5 > HB Cyclone > Serpent S400 > Tamiya TRF415.

Sorry, it HAD to be done.

Associated RC12L3 front end and near enough every other US 1/12th.

Actually, there are a number of differences between the WRX wagon and the Sabbaru. Comparing part numbers, there are hundreds of differences. However, to the untrained eye the two cars look quite similar. Sabb spec'd out a bunch of changes to the suspension, where there are almost no identical parts. For instance, NONE of the bushings are shared, although all are interchangeble.

(warning: Subaru enthusiasts are rabid )

Wrong, on all points. The S400 is crap on foams but excels on Rubber, the X-Rays are good everywhere, as are the Cyclones.

All the good American 12th scales, (except the CEFX cars), have different front-ends than the sloppy, soft ever changing AE dynamic strut front-end. Hell, even AE's new car has done away with that crappy front-end.

Just because somethings look similar, doesn't mean they're the same.
