The E4 at the Coliseum in Frederick, MD = fun! As traction came up I had more traction rolling but before that the car was very fast and very smooth. I got many compliments. I smoked a motor but it was fast before then :lol:. Duos surely do not work as I had to get a specific spur to make gearing work.

It's ok Ray I will be back... The E4 was good at the Coliseum.

Isaac 02-02-2010 11:57 AM

Has anyone fitted a LRP X-12 motor into the E4 chassis? I need conformation that the motor fits before purchasing. The Duos are certainly too big.

I used DUO 2 on my E4RS (17.5)....yes, it does required some grinding on the alum side belt tensioner mount but once that is done, I can move full forward and backward within the motor bay and gear like 10-12 range...

Isaac 02-02-2010 12:27 PM

I just used a DUO2 last weekend. I will look again and see how much I have to grind off and if I want to. If not I have a OHP Duo2 for sale with two 6 minute runs on it.

I dremeled my side belt tensioner alot so I could get a good amount of motor movement when I used the DUO and Tekin motors. I never dremeled any of my alum motor mount but instead chose to take off the left side aluminum mount and install the motor and then put the left mount back on. Only took me a few minutes but I didn't need to grind the rear alum mount any.

Isaac as long as the end of the motor is rounded like the old Novaks, LRPs and the newer Novak motor you shouldn't have any fitament problems. IF the motor end is like the Tekin or Trinity where it is perfectly squared corners then it will require you putting the motor in the way I sugested and then a good amount of dremel action on the belt tensioner.

It took me about 20 minutes or more to really dremel my side belt tensioner down but once done I gained alot of motor movement. I just never had time to really make a new side tensioner so I could remove the plastic one all together.

Isaac check with Wolf at Wolfs Hobbies as I thought he was in the process of making a new side tensioner back when I had mine. Maybe he has some newer ones that are cut to give more room.

Isaac 02-02-2010 03:31 PM

Solara helped me out. Good picture Solara. I will check with Wolf and see what he says about a new motor mount.

vinny73 02-02-2010 06:07 PM

I run a Fantom Racing ION motor. 17.5 I had to shave just a hair off the belt tensioner as well to just fit the motor. I just bought a plastic one and it works great. The Fantom Ion motor is supposed to be the same motor as the Epic Duo 2's. So I knew from a previous thread that this would have to be done.

Updates. Last weekend ran at a local track that I had never been to before. It is a low/medium traction asphalt. After talking with the sorex guys, it appears as I was running the wrong tire compound. I was running 36's cause everyone else was. I went to the 28's and was stuck to the track. I ran this setup: http://www.petitrc.com/reglages/team...ly20090426.pdf

When I was running the sorex 36's, I had alot of tailspinout. I also had my esc setup with alot of dragbrake and 70% power profile. Took all but 10% drag brake out and set the power profile to like 45%. Alot easier to drive! And with the right tires, I finally got to see my car drive well! Awesome car. Getting alot of comments on my abilities improving. But with the car setup right, it makes it just so darn easy to drive! I will however be increasing the power as ability permits. Would like to be able to drive mod class one day. But so far, all suggestions were awesome and the combination of getting the spring set and borrowing a setup board and tools, I couldn't be happier with my car! Thanks guys, Vinny

vinny73 02-02-2010 06:11 PM

We were running 2 - 5 minute qualifiers and 1-6 minute main. By the end of the last race, at 5 minutes I had gained a lap and a half, 22 seconds, from my 1st race. Granted, I got used to it, the track that is, but making the proper changes from everyones input, 1 at a time made a world of difference. I got in as much practice as I could and am now not totally hitting everything! Allmost got the whole "drive in the center of the track and slower is faster" nailed! So, getting there! Vinny

Isaac 02-02-2010 06:30 PM

Sounds good Vinny I'm happy you enjoyed the car. It is true once the car is set up it's fast and very easy to drive.

1.2mm 10lb
1.3mm 13lb
1.4mm 17lb
1.5mm 20lb

Maroon = 1.3mm - 13lb
Pink = 1.4mm - 17lb
Purple = (Rear) 1.5mm - 20lb
Turquoise (Fronts) = 1.6mm - 26lb
Blue = 1.7mm - 31lb
Orange = 1.8mm - 41lb
Grey = 1.9mm - 51lb <<< where one would use that I don't know

Solara 02-04-2010 09:22 AM

Issac, did you get the belt tensioner/motor bay worked out..?

Isaac 02-04-2010 10:17 AM

I have not started yet. This weekend is rebuild weekend since we will be hit with 24 inches of snow, so I will do it then. It would be nice to run Duos and Orion motors. Wolf has a shipment for me and it should be here tomorrow.

Isaac 02-07-2010 12:31 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Did the belt tension mount. Motor has a lot room to move now. See the space between the motor and rear pulley. Happy that I can basically use any motor. It was one of two minor things I did not like about the car.

Younger son is happier

My younger son felt like his wiring was messy...not entirely sure the coiling is a good idea... "but the BIG boys do it dad!!"

So here it is...

Attachment 552184

Shortened fan wire, shortened ESC->RX.. oh.. and an OUTLAW ORION 10.5! It keeps him smilin at the back of the field and he still loves his E4:)

Did you just Dremel the stock plastic tensioner a good amount or make your own?

Isaac 02-07-2010 07:11 PM

dremeled the plastic

Guys im looking for the TM E4RS '09 manual.Could someone tell me if there is one and where i can find it?I just won the car on ebay and im looking for the manual.Thanks

Isaac 02-09-2010 09:13 AM

It's not much of a manual. It's not a step by step manual but more of a exploded view of the car overall and in different stages. Contact Wolf at www.wolfhobbies.com

Born2Run 02-09-2010 09:23 AM

I figure out.Thanks Isaac

Tabushi 02-09-2010 09:43 AM

Well guys, finally got my 2nd race with the Tekin RS PRO System on the 13.5 Brushless class.

First of all, thanks to all people here in the forum + Randy from Team Tekin for helping me out with ESC/Car setup for this track. Its very big straight for a 13.5 but at the end, all went great (198 feet straight).

Results (track people asked me to make this, organization people at the track got delayed and finally no podium picture was taken) :

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d.../tc2nd2010.jpg

And here is the video of last 8 minute round, wich gave me the victory :

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Hope you enjoy.

Under our racing regulations, race start doing "oval" or at least not entering into the layout until first lap ... crazy uh ? lol !!

Track "looks" dusty but its not, very good grip we dont know why after last maintenance, asphalt dont want to look "dark" even when washed and prepared, ended 2nd place on GT Class will try to post the video for you to enjoy lol !!

Made one big mistake by lap 3-4 but recovered ... looong back straight, lots of speed. Motor after 8 minutes racing ended on 147F.

cya and thanks again guys !!

Born2Run 02-09-2010 10:04 AM

Very-very nice track.And thanks for the video.Congrats.

Solara 02-09-2010 01:35 PM

Nice track and good win for the E4...

BTW...I still remember to run a 4.5 Novak brushless on a 1/8th on road track 3 years ago....was kinda the same speed like that. And this is 2010 13.5 with V203 probably....another win by the SOFTWARE....:nod:

Isaac 02-09-2010 01:49 PM

I like it! Good win Pato! That wasn't a software win I think as the leader stuck it in the grass. The E4 looked good where others looked like they had rear end traction issues.

Solara,

Mhhh i dont agree man, 6 of the 11 a-main drivers were Tekins, 3 LRPs and 2 Novaks (GTBs) ... so all were very fast ...

E4 its showing itself as the faster car for infield high speed technical sections at least in my country on that track.

cya man !

Isaac 02-09-2010 02:15 PM

I agree Tabushi as the leader was fast. At the beginning you were catching him but you pushed out on the straight. I could see you were faster in the infield and could still keep up on the straight!

No no no....it must be my broken English.

I was comparing your 13.5 speed (and the rest of the 13.5) versus my 3 years old 4.5 motor speed (not saying you have the software advantage other then the 2nd place or the rest of the field)...

I am simply trying to say the TECHNOLOGY was a hugh step the last couple years. Even a 13.5 motor in year 2010 is almost as fast as the used to be MOD 4.5T Novak SS motor back in 2007 with my old Novak GTB. And I am still amaze on how some simple software can improve the 13.5 motor run as fast as a 4.5T back in 2007 technology...that was what I was trying to say.

Sorry about the comfusion....I am a dumbass afterall, LOL.
